as a musician, what's more radical than the image? she raps about radical things, she talks about radical things, she is considered so threatening by her home government that people are threatened with prosecution for listening to her.

I am still not convinced she is a radical. I see it more as a PR move. I think you just fail to see that I don't find anything truly special/controversial about MIA (let alone Nicki). As far as I am concerned it, it's mostly a packaged product with minor elements for elements of radicalism for stylistic purposes.

Let's avoid name calling and keep the discussion civil. No need to get all high and mighty, I highly doubt that "understanding" MIA (on your terms) has any correlation to intelligence or any kind of real life skills.
 
Man, I just realized that I'm privileged to have retained my hood pass during these modern times. Just being able to appreciate Nicki Minaj for who she is and what she represents in a larger cultural sense is one of those rare flavors, the kind only a real motherfucker can feel.

Lol. Yeah, it kind of backfired when I looked up current images of MC Lyte and she turned out to be a total fucking fox. Fortunately, Roxanne Shante looks like the love child of Missy Elliot and Kim Jong Il.

I totally buy into images. When I was growing up, I was riding the bus going to school and we would have diss battles. It would just get to the point where we were painting such ridiculous pictures that everyone listening had a collective conscious image of what was happening to the other person's mom, or what the consistency of their father's sweat was like between his ass cheeks while making love. The reason i love Nicki Minaj has to do with the fact that she is a performance artist who creates pictures, most of which are so hyperbolic that they don't really fit in this plane of reality. And it's not just her words, it's the way she says them. And it's not just the way she says them, it's her whole visual appeal. Listening to her and watching her videos is like watching porn.

She describes sex gratuitously, but in a friendly way that makes my erection throb despite being intimidated by her sexual powers. I understand that MC Lyte can rap about old shit like how women's suffrage is the bomb and how spinning wheels were better back in the day, but Nicki is that new bitch. She's that new MC Lyte. You could put her on stage with an 808 and a mic and she would have 50,000 people nodding their heads, shaking their asses, and crying with laughter at her jokes all at the same time.

I've been thinking about this for the last couple of days and listening to Nicki trying to prove you right, and I just think that you've got it all wrong.

She has too much personality coming through and I don't think a ghost writer would be able to keep his job if he honestly presented Nicki's rhymes to someone because they totally wouldn't be good at all without her delivery. Their just so individualistic and they rely completely on her ability to inflect her voice at very specific times. I suppose anything is possible, but I just don't think so.

Okay, maybe for the songs she sprinkles the albums with to keep the registers ringing. For instance, I think the hook on Superbass was written by someone else. But that doesn't really count in rap. I think Nicki has that old school Slick Rick style going on. Nobody can emulate Slick Rick's style or rhymes because it just wouldn't sound real. Nicki is the same way.
