nick drake appreciation

yep. i think its fuckin great to hear you know, an english singer with such a delicate sound playing american roots music.

man, his playing style is really difficult to emulate. aside from his unique tunings...he basically plays the guitar as though it were a piano, with simultaneous melodic bass notes and intricate finger picking. i mean, you can hear him play for a few seconds and just know its nick playing the guitar. he has a style all his own.

nick drake

anyone a fan, i find his music inspiring. "when i'm not drinking baby your on my mind" "i got opium in my chimney no other life to chose, nightmares made of hash dreams got the devil on my shoes" my fave songs are smokin too long, blues run the game. Anyone a fan?

Nick Drake is amazing. All three albums are just sublime.

My favourite song would have to be parasite from Pink Moon. 'sailing downstairs to the northern line, watching the shine of the shoes, travelling so far on a silver spoon, who's to care if you lose?'.

I saw a great documentary on him a few months back......sad life but great tunes. When I wake up from a long drug weekend, I love to put on his first two records and smoke...nice thearapy

Amazing musician songwriter. I read his book. He was very shy and did not like to perform yet wanted his records promoted and to sell.

At the time however Led Zeppelin, and Sabbath and more 'rockin' stuff was popular and the label did not promote his records because he was an English 'folkie'. That wasn't in vogue at the time.

Check out seBADoh's version of 'Pink Moon' on their 'Smash Your Head on the Punk Rock' album. Killer.
