anyone else absolutely love this guy...my mom used to play me pink moon as a child, which i still consider his crowning achievement...i just recently have incorporated many of his tunings into my own guitar work.

shout out!!

Love him :)

Pink Moon is a weird album - it's possibly one of the darkest albums I've ever heard, yet it possesses an incredible lightness of spirit and is simply beautiful to listen to.

My favourite song of his would either be The Thoughts Of Mary Jane or Chime of a City Clock.

I still wonder if he meant to kill himself. I don't think he did.

its said he was known to have severe insomnia, and often used prescription drugs to pass out. i think it was unintentional...but i guess suicide better fits his mysterious, romantic image.. :\

props to the thread, i think the suicide was intentional, he was a mentally unstable person anyways, it seemed inevitable.

<3 word.

I wrote a paper about him once... well, him and Elliott Smith.

Knowing his life makes me love his music even more.

However, it seems whenever I pop in my favorite Nick Drake cd I subconsciously go back to a sad sad time in my life.

About the suicide... I'm not too sure. The people that knew him the best say he was not suicidal at this point in his life. Plus, there was (as most people know) no suicide note nor any of the other tell-tale signs of a planned suicide.

Keep in mind I am just playing devil's advocate here.. I don't really have a clear decision one way or the other.

I think nick drake is a really talented singer/songwriter.

I just got the new cd release made to love magic and while its obviously not as polished as his proper albums, it has a lot of good material on it.

I love him. He's dark, but never bleak. Never morose. It's more of a sweet, wistful meloncholy.

Pink Moon is other-worldly, its like nothing else I've ever heard.

^ yeah - pink moon is awesome. i have to fix my turntable so i can listen to it again. the neighbours 2 doors down played the whole album really loud the other day - i sat in the back yard & sang along :)

Pink Moon is such a brilliant album, one of my favorites. I have yet to hear any of his posthumous material. If you haven't heard his stuff, do yourself a favor. A very unique and influential voice.

Only discovered him a couple of years ago, but I agree with everyone's comments - he was brilliant

definately, despite its sort of apocolyptic theme, pink moon always gives me a fuzzy feeling inside :D

For all of you Drake fans who havent heard any of his unreleased home recordings, especially the compilation "Tanworth in Arden", (mostly covers, a few originals, though) I uploaded one of the many songs that showcase his amazing guitar chops. Enjoy..

If someone can direct me to a free file hosting program that can hold more than a couple megabites, I'll upload the whole cd for y'all....

I only own Time of No Reply which is great. I need to pick up some more. :)

One of my favorite singer/songwriters to date, actually he's number two right under elliott smith. Love his album Pink Moon but enjoy his others a lot as well.

Thanks for the tracks, HP! All of them were thoroughly enjoyed yesterday afternoon.
