After currently detoxing well almost detoxing cold turkey I have been taking large amounts of vitamin C, Magnesium, Vitamin A, B, and D. And many others. My question is I know Niacin will not wipe the opioids off my receptors but will it help at all cleaning the drugs from last week out of my system? I have the flush free Niacin 500mg is taking it more then once a day not recommended? My friend took 7,000mg of Vitamin C when detoxing from Heroin so just wondering about these, thanks guys.

1. Niacin in no way is really helping you detox...

2. No one needs this much vitamin C without scurvy... You just piss out all the extra anyway.

3. The most beneficial niacin is not the flush free formulas... Just get ER regular niacin.

oh great itching everywhere....maybe ill suffer more then and just roll over and die and stop thinking about the withdrawl.

I suggest loperamide - it's an OTC opiate (opioid? whichever) that only slightly crosses the BBB. It allows the receptors to more gradually taper w/o providing a high for you. Lope is found in diarrhea medicines.

Benzos also help to put off some of the effects by making you not notice them so much, but you REALLY don't want to be just switching habits / addictions (as I'm sure you know).

For the itchiness - diphenhydramine (benadryl) or another antihistamine (allergy medication). The itchies are from histamine release in your body, and these will help. Don't exceed a normal therapeutic dose of them, however.

Exercise. Eat healthy. Drink lots of water. And EXERCISE!

Good luck!

Loperamide is an opioid. Opioid is the class of drugs which act on the opioid receptors, opiate covers the alkaloids with opioid activity derived from the opium poppy Papaver Somniferum. It doesn't cross the blood brain barrier readily as it is actively transported back again when it does, and it definitely does not significantly cross it at the doses most people take, but it can cross it at very high doses or if something which inhibits P-glycoprotein (the thing that actively transports it back) is taken with it.

/pedantic hehe.. sorry :D

PJ gives really good advice :) Loperamide can be a big help. Eating well, resting, exercise, generally looking after yourself and distracting yourself as much as possible are your best bets really, vitamins won't hurt but aren't going to actively help the detox per se..

Good luck <3 If you would like some help during your detox, I would recommend checking out The Dark Side forum - it's an excellent place to get support and advice.

Ah, so as - kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species - opioid is the family, opiate is the genus, and the various chems (oxymorphone, hydrocodone) are the species. Could prob assign something to the rest accurately, but I'm on my "lunch break" now.

Good luck, OP! And as effie said - The Dark Side is an excellent place to help you through trying times.
