NHL 2010-2011 season

I don't know about that. Yes, he had two 1-0 games, but man... it's hard to defend him when he's getting pulled left and right and giving up double digits in goals. Thomas had let in half as many goals while the Bruins were down 3-2 in the series. That's crazy!

Now we're tied up at 3 a piece and yet the Bruins have outscored the Nucks 19-8. As good as Vancouver looked early on in the playoffs, I'd have never thought it'd have been this lopsided in the finals. Granted these offensive bursts are coming in bunches for Boston and they'd have probably already won if they could have spread it a little thinner, but damn... at this point, I don't know who I'd put my money on, but I wouldn't be surprised if game 7 is won in period 1.

I gotta give the edge to the Bruins because of Thomas vs Luongo... The pressure in this Game 7 will be high and I think Thomas is more composed by far. Also, I think Luongo is probably a bit rattled after again getting shredded by the Bruins.

That's kind of the same thing I was thinking, but I wouldn't put it past the Nucks to pull it together. If Luongo recognizes that his team is playing with fire, maybe he'll seal the gaps too. I kind of think Boston will win, but I won't be the least bit surprised if the Canucks come out and beat em.

Lol... no fucking way. Is that actually a shot from the Vancouver riot??? Cause god damn that is a sick photo!!!

Btw... shame on you Vancouver for lighting up the city, that's pretty fucked up, but seriously that is an amazing shot.

Also... is there a high res version without the Facebook shit on it that I can check out? If not... maybe one just without the Facebook shit?

Philly trade was big. Carter, a ~30-40 goal scorer/~60-70 point man and Richards, a ~70-80 point guy for Schenn, Voracek, Simmonds and draft picks. I think Schenn, Voracek and Simmonds can all provide on the second line for Philly in a season or two, however I believe Columbus and LA won this deal. Philly got the cap room to sign a lower 1st-tier goal tender (I'd say ~10th-7th best in the league) but I think it's hard to rebound from giving away your 2 best players. Schenn has potential to put up 70pts, Simmonds can put up 50pts and Voracek can potentially be a consistent ~20-30 goal guy. I think in this trade the deal-breaker will be how Schenn performs and if Philly's 8th overall pick turns out nicely (Couturier/Murphy?).

As an LA Kings fan, I can tell you I'm ecstatic about a Williams/Kopitar/Penner 1st line and a Richards/Brown 2nd line. Poni/Smyth/Handzus/Stoll are all too old/trailing off production-wise to produce in a 2nd line role, but that gives the Kings depth on the 3rd line. Free Agency is probably going to look at a 2nd line LW and maybe some depth fowards, but the scoring forward comes first, and then a 2nd pair D man. Westgarth/Lewis/Poni/Smyth/Handzus/Stoll/Richardson/Clifford can make up the 3rd/4th line, if need be. Lock Mitchell + Doughty as first pair D, and find Johnson a solid defensive partner to balance his +/- (Regher?) then I think LA is set. That would leave Greene + either Martinez/Drewiske/Voynov as a 3rd pairing D, which is not bad.

Future looks bright in LA <3

The biggest thing about Voracek is that he'll probably never be more than a 20-30 goal scorer, you're right there, but he's always been touted more as a play maker. Great passing and great vision on the ice. He's definitely an asset. He's also a very hard worker. On the flipside... Columbus FINALLY got a legitimate, validated, number 1 center!!!

I think Richards is going to fit nicely in LA, but not too sure about Carter. Carter has to be the laziest 40 goal scorer I have ever seen, however he does put up numbers. Hopefully both players can use this as a wake-up call, as they're both young.

Truth be told, the Jackets aren't probably expecting him to put up a 40 goal season as much as they're expecting him to compliment Rick Nash on the top line. And I think he'll be GREAT for that reason. Nash has never played with a top line caliber center as long as he's been in the NHL. The fact that Howson is willing to deal a guy like Voracek in a deal to bring that piece speaks volumes about his desire to build a good team. Doug MacLean was just not the man for the job in Columbus.

Man, the Blue Jackets have made some serious moves this off season. You can see that they're clearly making serious steps towards improving. Signed Jeff Carter to provide Nash with a number 1 center and just signed James Wisniewski to a 6 year deal to provide some more support to the blueline. On top of that, Wis has a great shot to add to the power play, something the Jackets have been seriously lacking.

Well, I'm not so sure how I feel about this upcoming season for my Devils. They have basically the same team minus Brian Rolston and Colin White, add Zach Parise who will hopefully be back to his old self and put up some good numbers this year along with work out a long term deal now that we have plenty of cap space without Rolston, White and Marty's contract ending after next season as well.

I guess us Devils fans should realize that this season probably won't end with us getting into the Finals or anything, but at least be back in playoffs and a competitive team once again. Although, the 2012-2013 season should have us be true Cup contenders once again with our young guns like Josefson, Tedenby, Fayne and Taormina having another season's worth of experience under their belts and hopefully Larsson will be the savior on the blueline that we've needed since Niedermayer left. The Devils have been lacking a guy who can make great plays out of our zone and put up 40-50pts each season, as well as adding a right handed shot, something that our current defensive corps has only one of in Mark Fayne.

Plane crash kills entire KHL team

Entire KHL team has died in a plane crash including former NJ Devils Alexander Vasyunov and Karel Rachunek, as well as former NHL star Pavol Demitra. 2 survivors, 1 player who is condition is "beyond critical" said his doc as he has burns over 90% of his body and 1 crew member is reported to have survived. Tragic offseason with this crash and the deaths of Rypien, Boogard and Belak too. Worst offseason I can remember in hockey history.
