Compared to other reports I have seen around, this one is actually not as bullshitty as it could be.
They said that they don't know whether they contain PMA yet, but they will test it. They also gave information about PMA which seems relatively straight... longer onset, raised body temperature, nausea, vomiting etc...

Note that they also said 'SOME' Red mitsis and orange CK's contain PMA.

It's better than things like 'a new drug has hit Sydney causing fatal overdoses. It is being sold under names such as Red Mitsubishis or Red Death'

k, fair call

-BUT-

Police seize deadly party drug in SW

hows the headline for a bit of bullshit?

WA organised crime detectives had no evidence to suggest the pills were available on WA streets until South West(Bunbury) police seized 96 red mitsi'z

little more than a google search would reveal thousands have been happily consumed in perth since grand final weekend. grr, how organised are they?

is anyone able to confirmed that these pills sized have been tested and come up as PMA? i thought its been already establish that red Mitsubishi are in WA but not of the PMA variety?

if you look closer at the bullshit it says they do contain PMA then later in the article it says they will be examined to see if they contain PMA. the reporter doesnt have their facts straight.

^ Where? If you look even closer it says some Red Mitsubishi's and Orange cK's which have been sold as ecstasy contain PMA... They don't say that the ones that have been seized contain PMA. This article isn't all that bad, the facts about PMA itself are a little sketchy, e.g. "PMA is strongly related to ecstasy but for reasons not fully understood it carries an increased risk of overdose". Definitely not the worst article I've seen on this drama - at least it actually mentions that they are being sold as ecstasy pills, a lot of the articles I've seen refer to a dangerous new drug called Red Mitsubishi 8)

Come on guys :) you missed the major flaw here... they said "WA organised crime"... Its actualy "WA un-organised crime division"... get it right :)

They couldn't search a house to save their lives, let alone break organised crime networks :)

Everyone needs to know that it's possible they contain PMA and see if it's really worth taking the risk.

I wont truly believe these contain PMA until I see some scientific evidence.

has anyone really died in this country from PMA in 2004?

will we ever see any test results?

i really doubt it and all this mis-information is so fucking frustrating!

ending on a good note:

ive been taking pills for two years now and it wasn't until all this that i became aware of pma and why purchasing a tester was a good idea. word

Either way, there have been lives claimed, and lives risked. If you don't test and want to take the risk, and if you start getting really sick, get your ass put into an icebath whilst you wait for the ambulance.

The media although misinformed, is ultimately doing a sensible thing in getting the word out there. They do however glorify the stupid unorganised pigs who think that because they seize 100 pills, or seize one import, the streets are much safer because of their days work. Think about the ratio seized to the ratio consumed. How many pills do you think will be eaten this weekend over Australia???
As long as there is a market, there will always be suppliers, there will always be drugs... of good, shit and anywhere in between of quality. We as the users think it is worth it to take the risk, because generally it has been pretty safe to take the risk if your sensible. Dud pills have always been the more common threat as opposed to bad pills. Now things are slightly different, and there are SOME bad pills around... If the media can get the word out to the users, then at least users might be that much more cautious. Personally if offered a red mitzi or an orange CK at a party, I am not prepared to take that risk.

I would disagree with you Deformed_Neuron, the headline of the article which seems written purely for the purpose of selling more newspapers reads " Police seize deadly party drug in SW ", this is written as bold ( hysterical ) fact.

Then throughout the article it claims that PMA is kinda the same as E ( therefore inferring that both are deadly party drugs ) but just a bit worse.

Its absolute bullshit but I do like the way they go on about pill droppers not really knowing what they are swallowing ........... we've only got prohibiton to thank for that .

alexkid: that's EXACTLY what I was thinking

from yesterdays MSN chat log:

[21:37] iStinky Udder: the article says there were 96 pills seized
[21:37] iStinky Udder: he's on the other 4 ;)
