NEWS: News.com.au - 28/01/09 'Drug takers use web to find best deals' (Bluelight)

Why don't report about our shit BZP pills and mdma pills are getting done.

What half baked trash journalism. Instead of discussing the real purpose of the site, they make it sound like a drug market where we come to find cheap deals and compare product.

Stuff like this makes me really doubt the journalistic integrity of our countries news outlets. When you know how horribly they mis-represent sites like BL with a genuine intent to help drug users, you have to wonder what else they completely sensationalize for a few more readers and a little more moral indignance.

Since I'm sure the guys who wrote this stuff are reading here, a big fuck you. You should be disgusted by the way you misrepresent your subject and mislead your readers.

Mmm if it was about how were all worried about the BZP thats flooding in and destorying our pills everyone wins. I love that quote about carl being fat..

I bet he was searhing for carl and stumbled accross the threat and thought "i can make that a story"

If only we could use that too our advantage. "I heard that Carl williams and (insert name of another news papers jurno) were doing this and that"

Have the other news paper attack back for defimation

The reason why the prices are so high here is because of the wage. Imagine if people would be selling pills for 3 dollars here at a club. You wouldnt make much profit because the cost of iving is pretty high in Australia. Thats why. I am quite shocked to about the prices. Thats one of the main resons why i stoped using drugs. Its a bloody joke that a gram of speed here costs as much as the latest new nike shoe in the store. In europe 1 gram is worth about a big mac meal lol

I rang that journo and had a chat.

You'll notice that the online version no longer has the word "secretive" before "online forums". I pointed out that a publicly accessible website cannot ever be considered "secretive". And it isn't like I am exactly shy about who I am. He blamed a sub editor, as they always do, but it is the sort of thing they do. He said he'd ask if it could get removed. Seems he actually did.

As for the cut and paste journalism I said it was not only pretty poor form but also a breech of our terms and conditions, as material on Bluelight is covered by a Creative Commons license that says sure, you can use it but you have to say where it is from. News Ltd never say the domain name as they apparently this "condones" the site. So technically they have not used the material in the way they should and this is possibly actionable.

Whatever. When I first saw this I was just going to let it go. This story gets done every year. And when you ask the journo they have never, ever bothered to search their own site to see that it is the same story every year, and that I complain every year. So I just couldn't be arsed.

Then I got an email from an ABC reporter asking if this story was about our site. This guy had actually done the research and reached out to us for a comment. Everything that New Ltd couldn't be bothered even attempting. Right then I knew why I've always loved the ABC. I may not agree with how a story the do ends up but dammit they make the effort.

By the way I don't think there is anything wrong with pricing threads. Overall the article showed that we are every thoughtful in how we handle them. It is just a shame that the driving force behind these stories is "oh my god! drugs! someone think of the children".

But don't worry. Nothing comes of these stories now. The days of News Ltd starting up controversies about drugs are long gone. Without a parliament full of politicians looking for a way to look "tough on drugs" their efforts are wasted.

Hehe....well done johnboy ;)

While johnny howard was in power News Ltd had their finger up howards arse which he obviously enjoyed...lol

just from a rough guess i would say that he only wrote about 10% of that story, I think that it is great that bluelight has reached the point of being a valuable resource for the media.

really its about time the media caught on, already we have had studies conducted through this website participated in high level policy discussion and had influence on politics :)

once again gotta love BL-

One of the funniest things about News Ltd is that it has helped crime out on two occassions I can think of.

One was steering many phishing offenders to a cesspool of internet debauchery with a direct link, one was doing similar with an article about how easy it is to buy BS IDs for underagers online by supplying Tony Mokbel's pic to a novelty ID site based in the UK (I've known the owner for some years, he lol'd hard about it)

PLease don't delete my posts or is it my browser stuffing up
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well tadfish's post been removed
whats wrong with what i said well i see sorry
i should say make ya post to m- rating laugage so that no paper can quote the jibberish this thread has been edited heavly and for good reason but made some good fucking points
about how they used the riles from one forum and made it like the rules from this one. we don't allow prices, sources here i australian harm reduction thread. fucking go all current affair fuck that we good people. who make a rule difference with people here work without money to save lives give adive to lower risk and inform people. fuck i hate this shit.
We are safe and good drug users here.
I have saved lives has this reporter no hardly. Drink himself to sleep. He is no hunter S thomspon so go join fox news and do a story about Ex president bush.
Everyones loving the exposure... hmmm think aobut it
drug mentor is what your idol a star? WTF. yeah he doing well
he did good allowed thing in other drugs u allowed to lists prices
thats good its part of harm reduction, information age information should be free.
We have the right to do this and the law is not making what we do illegal even supporting it.
I know BL australia wants govenment funding and also is doing well with ravesafe the members know who they are. note i on benzos so forgive me typing yeah thats right media i on drugs and its legally scripted to me. I also go to harm reduction and AA meetings.
Now it should be in erowids terms know your body, know your drug know your source. this saves lives. are u saving lives media hardly just making a buck tell us what is going on exploiting pain suffering and people lives for a buck

classic but it get moddifried but classic use the power for evil? revenge? good???? hmmmm
static not always maybe
funny shit ahfuck him the truth is out there some know it and it should be said carl made money off shit speed which is 10% meth and shit pills that some clain back in the day the strongest were these and others like those were fact says on paper K and meth. some love speedy pills and couldn't give too fucks about smooth mdma or even the smooth mda.

I mean its these additives like left over extraction from meth and other reaction that get in finial product that get u mung out smashed. like impurities. i recall once a pillreport dude saying putting glas in pills is only for hardcore users like be so it hit ya harder cause it cuts ya stomach. I mean any ingested safrol or mdma redactions that have not got 90+% yeild see the effects then. some impurities and shit get u more smashed but no health. aka codeine increases mdma effects and get u more smashed with drinks so what a perfect thing to put in from some left over cold and flue extract thats got alll these binder that would be waste.. lets not waste the left overs lets press it. But then gov trys to tell us draino, cleaning chems, herion are all in a=our pills and rate poison i still got the poster its lol8o
that my rant. i think there should be media out there helping us or do we have to make them help us.
give credit to the amazing phase dancer, helpers like mr blonde and many more in australia.
fuck i don't want to say too much but i have seen dozons of combos of stuff not md in pills and pepople have loved them. even thought they better than whats going round and though the were md. the right mix fools alot.

It was lucky but still it took ages to figure it all out and alot of chem and talking to cooks (now in jail) to learn alot. I read carls books, underbelly ones, crime ones, chem books, pihkal, tihkal plus a few other ones off mates like how to cook this or that files. but i hate speed but some love it in there pills.

I recon after that raid where there was enough MDMA pills for everyone in australia to have one its all changed and we started getting desperate. its shocking most people will eat any pressed pills. (most is not BL population)

It's unfortunate that these "journalists" have nothing better to do than pick on a harm reduction site. We're one of the few places in the world that has the balls to look out for drug users and we do what we can to keep them safe. It's frustrating when people write about us and try to make this board into something it's not. It's laughable how they make it sound like the site is a secret sourcing forum when guests are allowed to view the board.
IMHO, It's just as well that they didn't list the site name because we don't really want to deal with the flood of new users who can't be bothered to read the bluelight user agreement thinking this is a source related site after reading that poorly written article. Then again I haven't banned anyone in a while. :)

that article is the biggest load of shit somebody should do a search on his ip address if you can get it nobody is trying to deal here or anything else fuckin looser jouno,s

Looking at what authorities can do about a site like BL - which is buggar all atm, I tend to think more along the lines of; any publicity is good publicity. I wouldn't be at all surprised if BL membership goes up because of this piece of crappy journalism. Anyway, all going well, soon there'll be an article in a much more prestigious and respected publication which will portray BL in a completely different light. Stay tuned.....

No doubt this will fuel the (very small) fire for Chairman Rudds internet filter. Shock horror people talking about illegal things on the internet is "unwanted" by CONroy.

Hopefully some news.com readers will look a little deeper than the article and find bluelight.

I attempted to post this comment there:

"pathetic jouranlism by Mark Schliebs here. How long did it take you to copy and paste from that forum? Are you too lazy or too stupid to do actual research on said forum? I like that you quoted to completely separate parts of the forum together and completely out of context. Hardly suprising that this story has attracted such ignorant comments. Perhaps everone here could do a quick google search on the article and visit said site to see for them selves the level of integrity this piece has. Im sure this won't get posted anyway. But don't worry it will still be freely available for anyone to read on the forum."

edit: and I have been browsing here for a few years and never found the forum which allows price discussion. I assumed because aussies are not allowed to in this forum that they wouldnt be able to anywhere.
