14 people charged after drug raids

Police have charged 14 people after a series of drug raids in the Hunter Valley yesterday.

Eleven men and three women were arrested after officers stopped a car at Williamtown yesterday and then raided six houses in Medowie, Tomago, Maryland and Woodberry.

Police seized methylamphetamine worth $150,000, cannabis worth $12,000 and $30,000 worth of hydroponic cannabis plants.

Lower Hunter area police commander Mark Holahan says the arrests show police are taking strong steps in their fight against drugs.

"We're continuously looking at drug supply in the area and the best way we can achieve a reduction in that type of crime," he said.

Five people will appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court today on charges including supplying a prohibited drug.

It is always worth being aware of drug busts in your local area, In this instance the lower Hunter Valley area.

Especially if, hypothetically speaking of course, you were some how associated with those arrested and could be traced back to and/or incriminate yourself in some way as a result of the drug bust.
