SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Chew on this: An ethnobotanist in Santa Cruz, California, thinks Jesus was munching magic mushrooms at the Last Supper.
Clark Heinrich says man has enjoyed the psychedelic effects of mushrooms since thousands of years before Christ -- and figured the King of Kings probably turned on as well.
In fact, he thinks Jesus was high on a psychedelic 'shroom known as "fly agaric" which was hailed for its taste as well as its trips.
Heinrich says the mushroom resembles pita bread and when soaked with water it feels exactly like human skin. He figures that's the bread that Jesus was referring to at the last supper when he said "eat this bread, this is my body."
But that's not the only way Jesus might have doled out psychedelics. Heinrich says people who eat lots of shrooms have a reddish-orange urine that's even more hallucinogenic -- and figures the almighty turned water into wine by whizzing into a five-gallon jug of H20.
Heinrich is the author of a new book, "Magic Mushrooms In Religion And Alchemy" (Park Street Press).

This is not the first time fly agaric's have been linked to early chritianity. David Allegro, an esteemed Cambridge Professor (in ancient linguistics, I think, its been a few years since I've seen the book. Curse book theives, NEVER lend out books people it just aint worth it!) who was involved in transcribing the Dead Sea Scrolls, wrote a book called 'The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross' (published in the mid-70's). In it he presented linguistic evidence that the bible is an encoded manuscript that allowed the initiated to identify various plants that brought one in contac with god. Allegro identifies Christ so closely with the mushroom that he hypothesises that Christ actually was the mushroom. Christianity was a fertility/mushroom cult, a sub-sect of Judaism, that had to hide its true meaning from Roman persecution.

I have visions of dirty hippies crowding St Mary's Catherdral with placards shouting "BRING BACK THE SHROOM!" and so on.
Has the existance of shrooms near the region Jesus lived his life and times actually been proven? Or the use of shrooms by people other than Jesus at that time.
We need circumstancual evidence people...

for an nteresting read, Food of the Gods by Terence McKenna seeks to offer an alternative explanation to religion etc through the use of psychedelics as well as examining their place in society...
have a look at it here: Food of the Gods
