Newcomer to raves

I've been rolling since new years, my first time, and have rolled a a few more times since then, but I've never been to a rave before. I'm getting the opportunity to go to one either later this month or sometime this year. I'd like to know what to expect, what to bring, what not to bring, like I've heard that many raves won't let you bring waters in so I'd need cash for water i assume.

Are there any other things security won't allow in other than some obvious things? Do they just pat you down and search your bag like a concert? Am i asking too many questions lol?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
 
Security will pat you down and search your bags. Wear comfortable clothes to dance in. Be friendly. Bring money for water. Be polite. Just show up, go with the flow, and have a good time.
 
A lot of things depend on how big the rave is.
I've been to raves where they lightly pat you down, mainly to check for say, weapons.
Others will actually check all over you for pills and will actually make girls show them under their boobs to make sure they arent hiding any pills.
You'll usually have to buy a water inside for like 3-5 bucks.
I'm sure many other people will cover other parts of it.
 
I know a lot of people get in with pills but I'm just extremely paranoid to even try, id anything I'd just drop before i enter. Especially if they go that far.

I highly doubt someone in your party is going to punch a security guard who let's you IN to the place. They don't grope you..
I find it ridiculous too, but i promise, it goes on.
They do that at some raves in California i know now. I'm from Cali and have raver friends who live there.
 
I carry a plushie backpack.

In it are my light gloves, orbit, vick's vaporub, vick's inhaler, and when I get in, I buy a water bottle and stick it in there because I hate carrying a water bottle.

On my backpack, I generally put a handkerchief with vick's vaporub in it around its neck and a light up binky underneath the handkerchief (some raves don't allow binkies, don't see the problem ;) )

You definitely should bring a few dollars for water - I've seen it cost as much as $5 a bottle, although I don't believe that's representative...just a good idea to be prepared. Also have your ID, and don't have too much crap in your pockets or wear really baggy clothes so that it doesn't take you as long to get through security.

They do the typical pat down on your shirt, stick their fingers around your waistband, and at SOME raves they have stuck their fingers in around my ankles in my shoes...so don't hide shit around your ankles. At EDC they even grabbed the waistband of my pants and shook vigorously to see if anything would fall out of the pantleg, although that was extreme compared to what I typically see at security checkpoints.

Once you're in, just remember PLUR! (Oh and don't buy drugs there. Gross)
 
Just drop before you get there and don't do anything stupid/bring anything stupid, and you should be fine. Most raves I've been to don't allow you to bring water in, as they'd prefer you to buy their over-expensive water.

So, bring like 10 bucks, ID, maybe some sort of lights/vicks or something, and your person and you should be fine.
 
Apart from the advice above - Take Gum and try to have a telephone number of a sober contact that will come and get you should things turn nasty.

Lets not get into the discussion of how to sneak drugs into an event - but on arrival be prepared for a pat down, and even having your socks/shoes removed (Ive only ever seen this at small events) tbh.

Male security cannot search a female and depending on your state laws even those are not allowed to look inside your clothes (bra etc).

Best thing to take with you - An open mind.

Bring lose, breathable clothing -- leave everything else at home. If you plan on rolling, get your pills from a trusted source before the party. Test them if you can, or check their print on pillreports to verify they're good pills.

You can expect to see people from all walks of life dancing, sitting on the floor, talking, etc. Lots of crazy costumes, people with nearly no clothes on.. it's quite a trip.

Security is more anal than a concert, imo. They pat you down and a lot of promoters won't let you bring all sorts of things into parties. I've even had glowsticks confiscated (but don't worry!! You can get them for $5 a pop at the party!!). These days I don't bring anything with me and figure, if I'm lucky, the chick patting me down won't feel up my tits. =P

On that note, I'm a jaded asshole (you'll find many like me at the rave as well :\ ), but I'm one of those cool ones from the hardcore scene that'll give you a light show and a giant hug if you find me ;)

If you do take gum, make sure it's sealed/unopened. I've had to throw packs away before, even when sealed. It completely depends on the security, but gum is always great while rolling! I get cotton mouth and to avoid drinking too much water, gum alleviates that problem. Plus, I get soooooo chewy on the comedown.

There are several reasons why I personally wouldn't buy at a rave (unless it was from a close friend).

-Sometimes there are undercover cops. If they see a deal go down, you and the dealer will most likely face consequences.
-I'd never buy molly since it's extremely easy to put whatever the dealer wants into caps. You could end up paying $15+ for a capsule filled with sugar. Even worse, you could be putting extremely dangerous compounds in your body and odds are you'll never see the dealer again, so what does he care once he has your money?
-If you know of a good press, there are still possibilities of fakes. For instance, in my area, the "Blue Rolexs" were a great pill back in April, but then a batch of fakes began circulating around the end of May which had very little MDMA but they still sold well at raves because of the earlier popularity of the press.
-If you are trying to buy multiple pills from one person, there's a good chance the dealer will sneak in a few pills that aren't the same press because nobody wanted to buy them. For example, my friend tried to buy 5 Blue Rolex's at a rave in April, and ended up with 3 "Blue Supermans," which were not a very good press at all. Luckily, he had a test kit and spotted the press difference despite the similarity in color.


The safest advice that I can give (other than not doing drugs at a rave :D) is to have your drugs beforehand. Odds are, you'll pay less than what is charged at a rave, you'll have time to test or check your pills on pillreports.com, and you aren't at the mercy of the dealers in the rave.

I'd try to practice the same sort of harm reduction at festivals, but I can't speak for other drugs. This is an ecstasy discussion after all :)
 
well yeah i ment buying extacy at festivals. you would have to be an idiot to buy fake weed and thats my only other doc
 
From my experience it's always been a very brief non-invasive search. The only bad experience was at a smaller venue and one of the security was being really rude. I had my Rx with me that I have to take and he announced the name of it. I mean, I had my id, the Rx had my name on it...he tried to tell me he couldn't let it in. I had to check my bag at the front (I just got it later because not everyone that worked there was uptight) It really differs depending on the venue. Last night they let my bf and I in with a gatorade bottle because it was unopened....but a particularly popular venue where I live does not allow gum, lighters, drinks of any kind even if sealed. They said the gum was because people spit it everywhere...not allowing sealed beverages is ridiculous.

Just be cautious but friendly and you'll do fine. I'd recommend bringing some cool things to trade with people, or maybe if you're good at lightshows, bring your supplies for that.
 
Seeing that you live in California expect to pay 3-4 dollars for water bottles at most raves. I recommend bringing a small backpack and keep it on you at all times. I normally bring my id, money, and phone thats it.
