The old ones were class late night stoner-vision - they were good because they were so shit (eg cardboard prison walls). The new ones are too good to be shit in that way, but too shit to be good in any other (imo).

I feel exactly the same way about doctor who as i do about prisoner: imo it was all downhill after tom baker - i can't stick the modern ones - too glossy, and the doctors are far too up themselves, with american-style action film quips at every turn ("i came here to kill daleks and chew gum...and i'm all outta gum!" - ok that wasn't in there, but it might as well have been) - and most of the sci fi is just childish (i know it's for kids, but that's no excuse).

I think most people would - it seems pretty popular (and i've got weird tastes) - i think it's cos noone can match what tom baker was like to me when i was a kid.
 
I fuckin hated Dr.Who as a kid (It was Jon Pertwee back then). Even at that tender age I could tell the stories were shit, the sets were shoddy and the acting wooden. Then it got even worse - that twat Tom Baker with his bastard scarf, that git who used to play a vet, and worst of all, Sylvester fuckin McCoy!

However, the 21st century series have been excellent in comparison..

FUBAR: The only reason you hated Dr Who as a kid is because you were fucking scared of the Daleks and the theme tune.

Well, Tom Baker is "my" Dr Who. Worzel Gummidge can go fuck himself. ;)

I used to hide behind the sofa when the theme tune came on, with a cushion in front of my face. My mum still attempts to wind me up about it. :D
