the more i think about it, the more i realise that a vid comp will never get off the ground here :(
 
^ How long does it take to upload a vid to youtube? Uploads are always slower than downloads right?
I am on dial up, but most BLers have dsl no?

If it was a very short video (think 30secs) I would give it a go :)
 
uploading isn't too harsh

it's just the time in creating the thing will put most off trying.

Video thread! Video Thread! Video thread!

I just got me a new camera and I need an excuse to use it more. First idea for contest: Music Video. You could also have people recreate scenes from movies, or instructional video, or animals, or animations/claymations perhaps....Videos are win.

I dunno, just sounds way fun to me.
 
Why not a contest to see who could build me the best avatar?
 
^that is actually part of the idea for the contest. if we start that one, maybe the first round will be to make an avatar for you based on some specifications you give us. :)
 
A mod should move this around BL a bit before closing it, cause some people might vote for what they'd rather see people compete in rather than actually competing. Plus, we already have too many photoshop/picture contests and threads. It'd be the same people over and over again competing in an avatar making contest.

/end bitching cause I suck at photoshop ;)
 
^ we already moved it around BL through several forums. I understand what you mean about the ideas being too photoshop oriented, but remember that it won't necessarily be only the idea that wins in the poll that will be started as a contest. There may be two or more contests started when this is finished. :)
 
Sweet.

I do like the avatar idea though, cause I want to make a cool one for myself, but I don't know how to animate gifs :\
 
The good thing about the avatar comp idea is that it should generate a bit of participation. Even the biggest luddite can crop and resize a cool picture. If people choose to get technical, even better!

As much as I like looking at people movies in the Cinematography thread, I cant see myself participating every round just because of time constraints. And I have dial up internet :\

BTW WOOT! My idea is polling first :D
 
Alright, "Create An Avatar" is our winner! I will also most likely start a video competition, as that was a close second. Look for some discussion threads about the specifics of the contests, and perhaps the contests themselves later on today when I have some more time! Thanks everyone for voting, and I hope that you find your way to contributing to these threads! :)
 
more annoying than people not making videos is that people don't even watch the ones that are painstakingly made. :X

There is no such thing.

Lefty I watched part of your video but I have not been able to get all the way through it. I will watch tonight I promise! :) I also got premier up on my laptop and am working on a video right now.
