I'm thinking of leaving this up for at least a week before making a poll, so there is still some time, but don't drag your ass, ppl, let your voices be heard!

Also, I will prob. start more than one of these threads, or ask the person with the idea to start them if they want to oversee the thread/competition, but I think it would be kinda cool if we did it all at once and blitzed the forum with our arts threads.

In the old VPA forum, we had contests but no actual vote, just constructive criticism and praise. Both systems have their plusses and minuses.

Some contest ideas:
  • Post an image for entrants to manipulate however they wish into a design.
  • Post an image for entrants to use as inspiration for artwork.
  • Entrants create a design based on specific requirements (e.g. create a logo for bluelight)
  • Post an image for entrants to digitally retouch. This can be very specific (e.g. remove the dirt from the child's clothing, place makeup on the model's face etc.) or nonspecific (let the users manipulate the image however they wish).
  • Entrants post their favorite artist and create a piece inspired by them.
  • Post an image, someone manipulates it and the next person takes that piece and modifies it again. I believe there was a thread like this in the lounge but with, dare i say, less artistic merit.
 
I think there should be a contest to have musicians write a Bluelight song and post it and have people vote on which one they like best.

Cause I would totally make one.

I also love the mural idea. That sounds more of like an art in the city type thing. it'd be sweet to paint on the building of wherever bluelights headquarters are located.

that would be nice, but that really belongs in NEMD, which isn't my department. If you would like to start one or see one started, however, try pm'ing AmorRoark, Pander Bear, or Finder, and ask them about it.

also, lol @ BL headquarters. I don't think they have a headquarters per se, maybe one dirty room with a bunch of computers and servers in it. :D
 
i tried a music remix comp in music & dj's but no one else even tried.

l thought about a "finish the story" comp, where you present a short story minus the last act.

but the only succesfull comps on bluelight are the easy ones to enter. photography and the facey's take a few minutes to make a passable entry. people here are too lazy imo.
 
Also it can be fun to have a real prize. Nothing big but maybe like $10 E-gift certificate to Amazon.com. I realize that this can't be done every time but for some of the contests that require a little more time and work. I would be willing and able to sponsor something like that once in a while. I have actually been trying to think of a contest to put in the lounge like that.
 
i want some easy contests that i can participate in. like a play doe sculpture one, and a fingerpainting one. i'm for realz.

I will also be starting a new thread and poll for the collaborative projects in the near future.

Don't worry, it's moving slowly but eventually you will see these things brought to fruition. :)

I would have but the other one was cool too! Plus it seemed kind of lame to vote for your own thing. I would have went with the multi-choice. ;)
