Hello Bluelighters,
Funny, I haven't even used MJ for over 10 years, but I live in the marijuana capital of North America.
I'm in my 30's, and had a bit of a "neurovascular accident" a little over 2 years ago. Luckily I retained all of my cognitive skills, but I lost enough that I'm not allowed to work at all, and my drivers license was cancelled (voluntarily). One thing that happened after this episode was that I ended up with some mental health issues, namely severe anxiety and depression. Some studies have found that as many as 95% of people suffer clinical depression after an injury to the brain. I ended up on a psych ward or a while which was umm, "unpleasant". Anyways, this led to treatment by a neuropsychiatrist, who pretty much has free reign to try weird off-label things out.
I'm Currently on Dexedrine (escalating dose
, Valium, Clonazepam (PRN only), Lyrica, Prozac (I hate SSRI's) zopiclone. I am enrolled in, but have not started a trial of buprenorphine for depression, specifically apathy. I've tried an extensive list of other psych meds, but I won't list them all here.
Anyways, I know a bit about most psychoactive prescription meds, but not much about illicit substances unfortunately. I started reading the CPS (our version of the PDR) in my early teens, and have continued reading journal articles, pharmacology texts, etc. ever since.
I've never used an illicit or unprescribed substance except for MJ. I've used and abused just about every abusable sedative available by prescription. I don't have much experience with opiates, except really enjoying IV and oral Dilaudid after my little brain mishap. I am new to the dexedrine and it's the only stim I've tried, and I really enjoy it. So far, my pattern is to binge, and then run out and feel terrible for a while. I'd like to figure out how to stop that, but still have some fun from time to time. I'm lucky to have never had a huge problem with physical dependence, so far at least.
Crap, this is about 10x longer than I had planned. Could I please use the very recent Dexedrine dose I took as an excuse for this verbal diarrhea?
Anyways, I hope to be of some help on the pharmacology, pharmacokinetics type questions. And I will probably post about the brain injury thing at some point.
Cheers, Phoenix2
