Hello all, we just joined and really need some help. I apologize in advance if I am posting in the wrong place. My wife and I have been using opiates (oc, op and dilaudid) for about one year straight. We were using about 150-200mg per day. We have finally come to terms with our addiction and want to stop. We have been tapering off for about 2 months now and have made lots of progress (down to about 30mg per day). It has been painful and taken lots of determination and willpower but it is worth it for us and our children. A couple of days ago a friend gave us 2 8mg subutex and said it would help. We are almost out of our oc supply and are not quite ready to quit cold turkey. We tried cold turkey last week and could not make it through day 2 as we have young children and could not keep up with them. All we could do was sit on the couch and crawl to the bathroom. We also have no family or anyone we can trust to watch our children while we go through the acute withdrawals. I was hoping that being down to a measly 30 per day would not be that bad but wow (cold and hot flashes, back and leg pain, depression, etc). It was hell and I could only imagine day 3. Anyway back to my question. I was considering breaking each subutex into 8 pieces and taking one or maybe 2 per day then maybe after a couple days even breaking those in half. The pill is the white round one with the imprint of 54 411 and I think you dissolve it in your mouth. Does this sound like a good plan or could this worsen the withdrawals we already have? Any other suggestions or advice would really help. We are just sick of this drug running our lives and want to be done with it forever. I know some of you may laugh at our current amount of 30 per day and I normally would too but what we felt was no joke. Thank you in advance for all your support. This seems like a great community.

Hello welcome to BL. Im not sure i can answer your question about the subutex other then you do (or can) take it sublingually. For myself and many other have found that kratom helps tremendously with opioid withdrawal. If i was in your situation I'd call around to your local headshops and see it they have any kratom capsules, they normally fit about .6 into each 00 cap and with your habit you might have to take 10-15 gram doses as first. its much cheaper online but i dont know if you have time for shipping. Thats just my two cents...

There are a lot of threads on buprenorphine (subutex, suboxone) in other drugs. Check there for info about how to use the subutex.

Basically, you have to be completely in withdrawal or else it will make you pretty sick. But used correctly, it will help a lot. Look around in Other Drugs and ask some questions there if you need to.

The subutex can help a lot. The main thing is that you have to wait 24 hours after your last dose of oxy or whatever before dosing it.

Try only 1-2mg at first, and it takes a long time to fully kick in, so don't re-dose until 2 hours after the first dose. Take it sublingually, and it should hold you over for at least a day. You can probably kick from one pill each, so use it wisely.

good luck with everything, youre entire story is almost identical to mine. please msg me if you want to talk, maybe we can give some helpful advice? i know its hell you all are going thru....if its your plan to quit or cut down, best of luck to you and it takes so much willpower...some people say looking at your kids will help get you thru it but honestly, i know how hard it is to keep up with and care for your kids when your going thru that kind of hell....dont let anyone judge you for anything, even if you both turn back to using and end up trying again...be yourself and keep trying if thats your plan....

Hi there, this is my first post on the website so I may not have much rep on this site, but I DID just get out of the hospital for opiate addiction (That damn 6-AM, my brain can't get enough of it). I had tried to quit numerous times on my own and it NEVER worked, so finally checked into a nice 15 day inpatient. I realize that because of your kids that is really not a great option for you and your wife, but you've been blessed with the power of subutex, so use it wisely. In the hospital I went from my FULL ON habit to 100% off in 5 days off of this regiment: wait at least 24 hours since last dose before taking 2mg in the morning, 2mg at night for the first 2 days, 1 mg in the morning 1mg at night for 2 days, and finally just 1mg at night the next night time. I realize that you and your wife do not have 23mg of subutex, but I think 16 is a good amount for you since you have been tapering your habit down into quite a respectable dose. Perhaps you and her take: Day 1 2mg in the morn, 2mg at night; Day 2 2mg in the morn, 1mg at night; then day 3 just one mg at night. About 24 hours after your last dose you will go into some bup withdrawal, but it is MUCH easier than any other opiate withdrawal I've dealt with. I stayed in withdrawal a total of about 12 hours and my pain/discomfort never really got past a 4. In fact I never even told the nurses in withdrawal cause I just waited for it to get worse and worse, and it never really happened!

In short, I think you are a lucky man for having this subutex, if you could get one more and turn it into a 4 day taper as opposed to three I think you'd really be able to conquer your addiction! Have faith!
