I have several injuries as a passenger in accident, broken ribs 2 hern disks in neck, 4 in thorasic area, fract rotator, broken shoulder blades scapula, all ribs right side broken or fractured, 3 lower back herniated disks, saw pain doc and gave hydromorhone 4mg 4 times day, soma 1 every 8hrs, lyrica 75mg in morn.

Was sent to psyc doc an given xanax 1 mg twice day , valium 5mg twice day, effexor 75 mg at night. I dont do recreational drugs or dring, confined at home, hurts to move, i told psyc doc what i was taking from pain mngt doc but have heard mixing lyrica an effexor was bad, i take my hydromorph immediatele when get up and soma.

Take valium to control tightness hour later and other in evening. The xanax is for panic attacks to work immediately, are these safe all together, i would like to wake up every day, if effexor is bad with lyrica, ill not take. My pain mngt meds help alot to move a little and as i said i do not abuse my meds. The somas keep spasms away and the xanax helps with breathing when hurts to deep breath or cough.

The valium i rarely take unless cant sleep from pain, i have to use ice on shoulder and ribs constantly, if i dont i really wanna take more pain, but dont wanna abuse so again is the lyrica safe in morn and effexor in eve safe, as i said heard dont mix well, please get back soon. Pains killing me, thank you

I get lost in the lack of lay-out, yes, I am serious...
I want to read this, but the combination of no enters being used and my ADD make it impossible for me to read this.

What? This response makes no sense. Simple question and explained out in detail, all im asking is does anyone know if its ok taking the lyrica and effexor ,one of each a day wirh everything else im on .

Hi Jeff and welcome to Bluelight :)

I edited your first post in this thread to include some paragraphs to make it easier for other users to read your post and help give a good response. Hope you don't mind. Try making a thread over in Basic Drug Discussion to ask your question about whether the medication will mix well, but try checking out through the search engine first to save yourself the time of waiting. Most importantly is to not change it until you have reliably confirmed information that it is safe to do so.

Good luck :D

What's up Jeff, it looks like they're ok together except for added dizziness, drowsiness and the usual stuff.

Welcome to BL,

Since this is a drug interaction question, I'm moving it to Basic Drug Discussion.

Thank you, just havent seen doc yet and didnt start either one of lyrica or effexor. I know lyrica is good for pain too, doc asst said ask doc about it at next visit, i assume the lyrica is at least ok to take with everything else. So if its safe, with xanax and valium and hydromorphone an soma ,ill take the lyrica and ask about effexor at next visit, im a clean person and the pain an soma really help, the flexeril and robaxin never worked, so just wanted to be safe. Never taken effexor and some internet searches said lyrica an effexor werent good mixes, im on lots abused meds people use, but i dont. To be honest even with what im on it barely takes away pain. But chest anxiety and muscle spasms are gone,i had to control myself, the first week i was taking almost 7 hydromorphone a day, pain was that bad. And i was going through 20lb bags ice a day on my body. Thanks for help, so the lyrica im prescribed should be safe right, but i am gonna wait on effexor til i see pain mngt specialist

Thanks flighhighk , im new to all this and with all these medical injuries, ill be asking some time to time

Honestly I think this cocktail of drugs and especially the benzos are an overkill.
Not so much that it's a risky combination, but I think that when your done with medicating the pain, you'll have a hard time quiting these drugs.

Why are you getting that much benzos?
Are you experiencing heavy anxiety issues because of the accident?
If not and it's just because the pain is unbearable or your muscles should be relaxed, I'm sure these benzos can be replaced with some other meds.

When quiting from daily benzo use, chances are you'll have sleeples nights and anxiety issues!

LearntYoung, just guessing that the valium is for spasms and to help the major muscles to relax.

Hi Jeff, and welcome to BL! Great to hear that yyou don't abuse your medicines. It is much easier to take the pain meds as prescribed because you need to stop the pain before it can get started. It is much easier to keep the pain under control this way. If you wait until you feel pain to take the meds they will take time to stop it.

It is a strong group of medications you are taking so you do need to take care and not to take double doses by accident. I would get one of the daily pill holders that you find in pharmacies and put your daily doses in it so you make no mistakes in what you are taking.

You certainly have some painful injuries, but you are alive and that is the these injuries will heal in time.

Good luck my friend and hope you stick around even after the injuries have healed.

Wow, that's some serious pain but do you really need 2 different benzos?

Valium I understand because its great for anxiety & twitches/spasms.

Just be careful mixing the somas & benzos with the dilaudid......

I would stay far away from Effexor, its an antidepressant & unless youre sufferi g from severe depression, dont take it........doctors hand sh*t out like this for absoluyely no reason, first sign of anxiety & they throw bottles of antidepressants yoyr way........but Lyrica is just fine with everything else.

Lyrics actually works great with your other meds such as the somas, benzos & dilaudid, just be careful with the dosing, but since you are in serious pain, you should be okay.

Thanks , the effexor scares me i have no mental issues and the somas help but valium is for ribs and thorasic injuries and broken shouldee, the xanax is for immed relief when trouble breathing or uncontrol pain from sneeze. I wouldve rather ripped my arm off than all these broken ribs , im being careful with taking meds, what scared me was first week i started to abuse hydromorphone taking almost 7 a day without realizing, the rib and bach thorasic are the worst dealing with pain

Sounds like a lot of serious pain .........dilaudid doesn't last long, that's why you kept dosing.

Do you think your doctors will prescribe you oxymorphone? I would never recommend it to someone that was opiate naive before the accident but you seem to be in severe round the clock pain.......

Effexor does seem like a bizarre choice here. Did the doctor tell you what it was for in this case?
