Hey guys, first I've been looking at bluelight posts for probably 16 months & you have all been a great help! I finally have got a question to ask that I can't already find on here... So anyways now I've decided to join bluelight and its pretty cool.
Ok so now to my question:.... Ok well after long term heroin use, my worker convinced me to go into this program whereby the docs would hook me up to a drip with high level bupe & I would be detoxed in the hospital over a 3-7 days period. I was in the hospital for 5 days and the bupe was making me feel shit!! I was so suicidal & miserable. So anyways I asked the doc if I could please go home & he agreed that I could if I took all my pills he was prescribing & as well as taking 2x 8mg suboxone sublingual films to take in the morning. Ok well the first morning I was at home I decided that the bupe was making me feel horrible and so I didn't take it, but I did take the other meds (I think ones for mood & the other restlessness and hot & cold sweats) anyways that day I was completely fine no withdrawals nothing & I was thinking great, maybe I haven't been on bupe for long enough to cause an addiction & therefor I wouldn't experience WD. Ok so now its Sunday and its 36 hours without any bupe and I was feeling fine!! So I was thinking WOW this is gonna be easy to get off this shit (which I really don't wanna be on in the first place!!) anyways right now it's been 48 since the IV of bupe was taken out of my body and I'm a little achey and that's about all the WD's I've had. Sorry for this post to be so long guys!!
My question really is: If I don't wanna be on bupe at all and I wanna be back on the smack how do I go about this, I need to know do you think I will have withdrawals & if so, how bad do you think they will be (what sorta symptom should I expect??) how long should they last. Tomorrow I am going back to the doc who detoxed me and put me on the bupe & I know he is gonna say the same old shit "you can't be on smack long term, you don't wanna be on the wrong side of the law, etc, etc"! the same old shit you hear from anyone who has never used drugs!! Ok so I really wanna know about my possible WDs & also how to SAFLEY go back onto the smack! I know you can't use bupe & heroin together coz if you take the bupe first then take the heroin, you won't feel jackshit & if you take smack before the suboxone wafers you will be violently ill!! So obviously I don't wanna be sick! Also today my worker forced me to take half a 8mg wafer under my tongue and I throw up violently after about 15seconds of holding it under my tongue! (I think I might be allegeric to bupe I dunno if I am or not but still...) I am not taking it tomorrow either (my worker said tomorrow I didn't need to take it coz I'm seeing the doc & we can ask him about this all then) but yeah. So really i just need to know what sorta WDs could i possibly get?? And secondly how do I get back on smack SAFELY!!

Ok thanks guys for reading... Please answer if you know the right answer for me, you guys are amazing!!

It doesnt sound like you want the right answer. The right answer is dont get back on the smack. Be grateful that you got off so easily. It wont be so easy next time.

Are you waiting long enough for your opis to clear before taking the bupe ? otherwise you could be going into precipitated withdrawal and feel like shit.

Also - do you really need 16mg daily? This is a huge dose and honestly speaking where I live not many people want such high doses. I can imagine it works differently here because all programs are covered from the national health fund (i.e. one must have public insurance to get on the program) and psychiatrists make no money from putting someone on the program, I mean no bonuses for 1 person more or 1mg more. When I was in hospital, 2mg followed by 4mg after 24 hours made me nauseous and experience a terrible headache, something I have never experienced from any full agonist (not counting tramadol which is simply gross). And in the end I wanted to increase the dose up to 8mg. It was all 2 months+ after I tapered off methadone. And that line "I asked the doc if I could please go home & he agreed that I could if I took all my pills he was prescribing" makes me wonder... What doctor actually lets you go home seeing you're not stable on the dose and tells you to continue taking the same amount?

Heroin is definitely much better, but there must have been a reason why you decided to give buprenorphine a try.

If you go back on the smack now you will still be physically dependent and be back to the same bullshit of having to use each day to keep from getting sick. If you want the full effects of the smack then wait 72 hours after your last dose of bupe to really feel it.

I recommend staying off the smack, but I understand that you probably don't want to hear that, so then I recommend waiting 2 weeks to dose it so you are done with withdrawals. Then you can use once a week without becoming physically dependent again, however unlikely it will be to keep that dosing schedule.

I don't think she was asking should she go back to heroin. I think she was asking how to get off the bupe and back onto heroin.

Hey yeah thanks! :)
I'm not really questioning if or when I am going back on heroin. I just need to know how to get off the bupe?? And also because I was only on bupe for 5 days with the IV bupe at hospital, I wanna know if I might get withdrawal symptoms from those 5 days! I'm obviously hoping not, but if I might get WDs what sort of withdrawals might I get??? Thanks guys!!

aussiegirl, I too am on Bupe, and I also hate it. It seems to provide all the negative side effects of dope with none of the positive. The only reason I bother with it is to prevent myself from relapsing with Heroin/Methadone/Painkillers.

You seem to have given up Heroin rather painlessly, and if I was you I'd try to stay the hell away from it. The next time won't be so easy. It gets harder and harder the longer you stay on it. If you were to give up Bupe cold-turkey you'd likely have zero withdrawals.

How do you get Bupe out of your system? You wait. Two days after your last Bupe dose should be plenty of time to dose Heroin again.

.

I am soooo glad I have finally found SOMEONE ELSE who HATES BUPE!! Thanks for your help, I am glad you said I probs won't have any withdrawals!! Phewww!! I will reply to y'all after my doctors appt today in 3 hours!! I'm super nervous about my docs appt, he is gonna be pissed off at me!!

Ok so Ive now got back from my docs & he wasn't the happiest with my honest choice & opinion, BUT he did say I could stop the bupe if I really wanted to & he has increased my other meds to help, but he said I shouldn't get too many withdrawals if any so that's more good news! Also he said with the heroin that I need to start REALLY slowly to avoid overdosing! So all I good in my world! Thanks everyone! If anyone else wants to post the only thing I wanna know is: what sorta withdrawals might I get??

It sounds like you are on way too high of a dosage. Try just 2mg of buprenorphine, instead of 8 to 16.

I completely agree & I told my doc that it was way too high for me! Even when I was in the hospital, the most I was on was 12mg!! Which pretty much knocked me out! I could bearly keep my eyes open even with the nurses keeping on poking at me to stay awake. My issue is I don't like bupe or how it makes me feel... I got completely suicidal & depressed when I was on bupe! Does that happen to others?? The doc told me I doesn't make ANYONE HE KNEW feel depressed or suicidal...wtf am I crazy or do others get depressed on bupe!!

Buprenorphine actually has antidepressant effects so I'd agree with Captain. In lower doses there is also more nor-buprenorphine available (which has more affinity or something, please correct me anyone^^) than with bigger doses.

I never heard from anyone experiencing it that way so I think the dosage is to blame. Bupe is highly potent and often overdosed which usually feels not so good.

Uh what? Your doctor told you this?

Nor-bupe is something that if it out competed bupe us on ORT would be in trouble. Luckily Norbupe does not READILY cross the BBB, has a lower affinity than bupe because its actions are quite deadly. Most of its affects would be centered around breathing or lack there of and the gut... Not much euphoria. It would be rather unpleasant.

Think the doc meant or she should had worded... Since you have been off full ag's for a few days be mindful in the sense to not load up a super fat shot in excitement and ODing. A lot of ODs are situations like these.
