I decided 2 weeks ago that I was done with opiates so I went to a clinic in michigan (I'm from memphis) where they performed a rapid detox. Basically they put you to sleep and strip your opiates receptors so when you wake up the worst of the withdrawal is over. Didnt quite work that way for me. I'd be happy to tell you about the procedure buy that's probably a different forum. Anyway at the end of the procedure they give you a naltrexone shot that last 30 days. I also take a booster pill everyday. It keeps whatever may still be there from getting back on your receptors. Well my methadone and opiate use masked a problem I'm having in my GI tract. They may have to take out 6 inches of my descending colon and 3 feet of my small intestine. I'm scared because I can't have a major operation like that without narcotics but the naltrexone blocks opiate receptors. Unless I have to go into emergency surgery they can wait til the 7th of July which will be exactly 30 days. I'm nervous that even though the shot lasts 30 days that it may still block the some of the pain meds I'll have to have. I'm also nervous that them giving me morphine and delotdid that I'll be addicted again, which means the whole detox in michigan was for nothing.
