Bupe New to addiction medicine with Kaiser So Cal

Regarding DXM. Does anyone know if there is a DXM only medication? I'm in Los Angeles Ca and I only find DXM in conjunction with other meds. I don't want to put un-necessary crap in my body.
Also, anyone else that has been in any type of outpatient addictive medicine? Did the Addic med people try to get you off your meds prescribed to you by your psychiatrist? I think it's crazy that they want me to drop the Prozac.

I would not suggest bringing up the pot idea to him though mate.

Depends on the doctor. California allows medical marijuana.

There should be plenty. Just go to the cough section of a large drug store and read the ingredients to see which product lists dextromethorphan as the only active ingredient (or course there are going to still be additional inactive ingredients, the cough gels probably have less of these than the syrups). Erowid has a list of brands of cough products and their ingredients here: Erowid - Guide to DXM in Non-Prescription Drugs. (The ones with the blue titles contain DXM only). There may be some others not listed, such as generic store brands.

im going through hell myself because i didnt change from kaiser to blue cross last january. I was already yellow opiate plan after having 3 bottle s stolen over 3 yrs then when i flew home becuase dr said cant go longer than 4 months, i pissed dirty. thought coke only stays insystem 4 days, he put me on red ,and prescribed a taperdown from my 50mcg fentanyl. luckily i had just got a script the wk b4 in mail and i was every 48 hrs becuase of the heat. i started out at 75mcg every 72 but the dose went too quick. ANYWAY, i have a crushed vertabrae, im in Indiana instead of oregon, KAiser wont "refer" me to pain clinic here because wont pay. the pain centers here say that they wont give me narcotics if i self pay EVEN though i have records of 3 yr pain contract. they say the DEA looks at paying cash for scrpipt same as buying on street,,its ridiculous! I would go for methadone but you need to get it in morning for 3 weeks. im here working. i sure hope i can make it through the drop. i can change to blue cross start of year but thats 2 motnhs away. sorry about typing..laptop on bed cant see well

Oh man Runninwild! That just all around sucks!! I lost my diaper bag once at a park and I have my norco's in my bag ( I only carried one bag- my wallet was in there too) I called my dr and they had me file a police report. I didn't realize what a big deal it was until a year and a half later when my new dr brought it up- insinuating I was lying. I wish I would if just rode the month out and kept my mouth shut. Anything that happens will be heald against you. Since then, all important pharms I keep in my jewlery box in my bedroom.
I'm not risking them being taken again.

Day 5 since my binge on Wednesday. Didn't take subs for 2 days after my misadventure and

I was feeling very down, depressed, wanted to quit subs and use again, confused, angry, no motivation. Sleeping non stop. Not a normal withdrawal but tired.

On Saturday I decided to try 2 mgs of subs and I jumped back to life. I guess I have to let my body rest after abusing it, drink water and get back on subs as soon as I feel like I can't take it no more. I almost felt high from the subs.

Today, Tuesday I'm pretty much back to normal. Minus high. Ecstatic I didn't keep using. Happy to be sober. Wondering what I'll accomplish.

Nov 2. Friday. I was offered hydro yesterday and I did not want it. Subs are keeping cravings away.
Feeling much better.
Sub maint therapy is right for me so far

Sat Nov 3. Went out with hubby last night. I was able to appreciate beautiful things and places without being high. I was in a good mood. I laughed a lot. I'm starting to feel alive again. I am understanding why being sober is actually a fantastic thing and how being high everyday was turning me into a zombie. My marriage was headed for divorce. I realized that last night. I feel clear minded today. I'm grateful I'm healing quickly.

I'm beginning to understand how subs work. I haven't taken any in two days. Opiate Cravings, dysphoria, sweats, anxiety, sleepiness, nausea & shakes are coming back slowly. I'm going to make an addiction med appt for Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. I was naughty last Thursday and Wednesday and I did 4 small lines of coke. I am not a regular user so I'm hoping it won't show in my urine test.

i am on suboxone, and it barely helps with pain. however, taking lyrica and temazepam/benzo with muscle relaxing properties really helps. if you have trouble with abusing you opioid medications, i suggest getting off because you will e forever chasing the high, eventually moving to heroin, ect.... methdaone works alot better for pain management because it is a full agonist, and it also antagonizes NMDA which literally stops pain messages from reach the brain. there are also plenty of other alternative medications such as lyrica/gabapentin which helps sooo much with my fibromyalgia and TMJ, in addition to muscle relaxers such as soma, skelaxin, flexeril, ect.. that synergize with even bupre/'done and help with pain. anti-histamines like hydroxyzine especially also aid opioids in treating pain. marijuana is probably one of the best "medicines" for treating pain IMO and IME, and of course you can take apap and/or NSAIDs to help with pain

Maybe a little info on what I'm prescribed might help.

Suboxone ~6 mgs daily
Proxac 60 mgs daily
Flexeril as needed
Valium as needed
Topomax 100 mgs daily
Lamatcil 100 mgs daily

I was on methadone but pain management opted out and sent me to addiction med. I've heard horrible things about methadone. No energy, bad addiction, etc.

Second month of trying my opiate binge thing. I let myself go weds- Saturday. I think I'll drop all SSRI'S and RX'd mood stabilizers when I do this. I had fun. Weds was fantastic because all I needed was 50 mgs of hydrocodone and I was feeling the high I haven't felt in a LONG TIME. so it's worth the wait. This morning I popped two suboxone strips and I'm feeling good. Not tired. Not depressed. Not craving or uneasy. Just back to business. Looking into yoga classes. Bought new walking shoes.
So far, I'm very pleased.

Been on sub break since 12-22-12. I've had unbearable left side hip, back, ancle, foot and right wrist pain since the 24th. Lydocaine patches & Aleve no not work. I've taken about 30 10/325 Norco's and all is well. But I have to go back to subs. I can't have my own script at home. I'd just take them all day long.
I've been exhausted. I'm starting to like coke. :-(
I been doing Benzadrine extractions to stay awake and focused.
I was diagnosed with ADHD but because of my pain management pill issue I was given Wellbutrin. Sigh. I hate feeling depressed weepy and tired all the time.

Are you in the Antelope Valley. That's where I live and things can be kinda funky around here.
