What’s up fam — looking for some feedback or shared experiences.
So after almost a decade stuck on 2mg/day of Klonopin, I recently got a new doctor added to my team—not replacing my old one. I had to add him due to opiate addiction issues and needing to get on Subutex, since my primary doctor doesn’t prescribe that.
Well, this new doc actually knows what he’s doing when it comes to mental health meds too. He reviewed my chart, had me fill out a trauma-based questionnaire, and after seeing my background, childhood trauma, and everything I’ve lived through, he was honestly shocked. He looked me dead in the eye on the first visit and said:
“Call your primary care today. I’m taking over your Klonopin script—this is not okay.”
My old doctor, as cool as he is, had me on just 1 x 2mg Kpin once a day for like 10 years. At my request, he even let me try Xanax once, but only gave me 2mg once a day, which was hell. I felt like I was in interdose withdrawal constantly, and it honestly turned me off from Xanax altogether—though now I think it was just prescribed wrong.
Anyway, my new doc bumped me to 3mg/day on the first visit, and then to 4mg/day on the second visit. It’s been a game changer. I actually feel stable. Some days I don’t even take the full dose.
But now I’m wondering… should I ask to try the same dosage in Xanax, maybe 2mg twice daily, just to see how it compares? I’m not trying to get high — just genuinely curious how it might work with my chemistry vs Kpin.
Anyone here made that switch and preferred one over the other for PTSD, GAD, panic attacks or daily anxiety?
