New Radiohead album?

I've been hearing rumors of a new Radiohead album this year. Does anyone know anything about this?
 
I remember reading that they'd been listening to a bit of Kraftwerk and wanted to incorporate that into their sound. Personally I hope they do less of an experimental / electronic thing though.
 
My wish is that they would go back and do a mix between The Bends and Ok Computer. I love experiemental music, and I loved kida/amnesiac, but I am still a sucker for distorted guitars with Thom's soaring vocals over the top. A man can wish :)
 
They recorded the new album in LA already.

Thom will be touring with Atoms for Peace for a little while and Phil is doing his own thing on tour. Jonny just made another orchestral piece called dog house. (if you want it, pm me and I'll send you the link)

So my point is the album should be out before not too much longer :]

I like that stuff. Kid A is one of my favourite Radiohead albums. And Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief are solid albums.

But my other favourite Radiohead album is In Rainbows.

Though it's not really up to me, obviously they will do whatever they are feeling. ;)
 
to be quite honest... and there really is no wrong with radiohead, IMO... i've never understood why people site "kid a" or "amnesiac" as their favorite albums. i understand, different strokes for different folks and i'm certainly not criticizing anyone for their tastes here, but with "the bends" and "ok computer," i just don't understand why anyone would prefer their more downtempo minimalistic-ish type stuff. that said, i truly feel like "in rainbows" was an incredible album. so basically i guess i don't get it because i figure if you want more live instruments "the bends" and "ok computer" dominate, but if you want more of the experimental type of electronic shit, "in rainbows" and thom yorke's solo album are just a heaps above "kid a" and "amnesiac."

A metal fan could wonder why you prefer the minimalistic-ish type stuff on The Bends to some shitty metal album. ;)

Assigning albums with arbitrary labels and then judging them in terms of how well they perform within that label is a bit odd... Yea, The Eraser has more bleeps and glitchty electronic sounds than Kid A. But how does that make it a better album? One of the reasons I love Kid A is because it has a track like Idioteque as well as a track like Optimistic, yet it all meshes together as a whole thing.

Anyways to explain, there was a time when I used to pretty much only listen to electronic music (a lot of it EDM). I was in a phase, just like I'd been in a hip hop phase through the second half of high school, it was what I predominately listened to. During my electronic phase a friend of mine gave me Kid A and told me to listen to it, as they wanted to see what I thought.

I loved it the first time I heard it. I took to the electronic nature of it straight away, I ended up getting into the rest of their discography.

At the moment I listen to a lot of rock, and can appreciate their rockier stuff as well. If I hadn't started with Kid A, it might not be like that though.
 
If i had to listen to one album on repeat for the rest of my life / as torture / it would probably be Kid A.
 
rated e... no disrespect meant, obviously, i'm not trying to criticize your flava, it's just that i PERSONALLY don't get it. i found 'kid a' and 'amnesiac' to be very mediocre in comparison to most of their other albums, yet time and time again, both (mostly kid a) is referred to as one of their best albums. i definitely like them, but by comparison to their other stuff... i think they're boring. that said, they each have some gems.

i should mention also that i, too, am a HUGE fan of electronic music and have been since i was about 13 (i'm 27 now). i've been all over the map in electronic music, but prefer the glitchy, experimental, idm, type stuff and the darker type stuff like dnb and dubstep, plus a lot of hip hop and anything breakbeat oriented. however, when i got into radiohead, i hadn't yet gotten much into the electronic scene and was first exposed to 'the bends' around the time it came out, then shortly thereafter 'ok computer.' so i suppose we're similar in that we lean towards the style of radiohead that first hooked us.

LOL you just gave me the mental image of being forced to listen to "Everything In Its Right Place" on loop for like a decade as a possible form of torture. I don't know how long I'd last. =D
