In America anyway, I think that's more of a regional thing. Most people out east know dope to mean opiates. Out west, meth is more prevalent as the main drug of abuse. And then yeah I think some older people still use it as a catch-all to refer to any drug
Yeah I guess I didn't consider regional differences. Can't win 'em all. :p


All of that is over a period of 40 ish years or so though. When I was in my teens, everyone called weed "dope" then it was opiates around my mid twenties or so. In the last decade, maybe decade and a half, I've heard meth referred to as such quite often.
