After Calgary police recently seized pills containing W-18 — which is up to 100 times stronger than fentanyl — drug experts began bracing for its arrival in B.C.

Vancouver police and the coroners service haven’t yet seen W-18, but Mounties believe “it’s likely just a matter of time” before it reaches B.C., said Staff-Sgt. Rob Vermeulen.

Hugh Lampkin, board member of the Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users (VANDU), said he’s “expecting a lot of trouble” from W-18.

wtf is this stuff?

wow. There comes a point in the production of opiates that there is too much of a good thing.

This is a product of prohibition. If this compound was handled by legit scientists putting into pills in the microgram range it wouldn't really be that deadly. Foregoing that, if other opiates were legal this probably wouldn't even exist.

edit: I just rethought this. There are quite a few profoundly stupid people when it comes to dosing and redosing...this is a genie that should be entrusted to a bottle that won't ever be opened.

"We are expecting W-18 to hit the privince shortly. W-18 is 100 yimes stronger than fentanyl. In case you didn't know... W-18 folks." this reads like an advertisement and most likely serves as one. Just like when all those feminists groups were in uproar about that Japanese Rapelay game, the amount of people exposed to it just skyrocketed. I sincerely think they could be more tactful about declaring thr next problem opioid way before it becomes a problem.

Get ready Darwin Awards these dealers are your next candidates! Seriously, any person going near this chemical in pure form is an idiot. Perhaps an accidental overdose kills them, being the number 1 target of the DEA is another life ender, heck perhaps the people in Homeland Security could get involved. The DEA are rent-a-cops in comparison with Homeland Security. In any situation, being near this chemical is a death sentence.

Really this is the War on Drugs fault. Growing poppies in your back yard or using heroin are such low risk in comparison. Personally I think growing small numbers of opium poppies personally should get legalized and heroin decriminalized. With superior alternatives with lower risks rational people make rational decisions. Opiate users prefer heroin, heroin provides the best rush. Legalize personal poppy growing and decriminalize heroin and we won't have these problems. Our goal should be keeping others and ourselves safe.
