Semper Fi Dirty Deeds! Oorah and Hooah, good to meet a fellow vet! OK, I'll do my best! Like you I have a 70% medical disability with my back, probably from excessive jumps(was paratrooper), not to mention all the shit we'd hump for miles on end. I used to hump a saw for two tours, and you know what a bitch those can be when you do it ALL THE TIME. My first piece of advice is never ask for a specific med. They automatically assume your a drug seeker or dealer if you do that(my doc told me this). I also go to civi doc now too, as the VA where I am sucks! God damn them for letting guys like us suffer after the parts of our bodies we sacrificed in the name of democracy for this country!(just my opinion)
I will try and help you as best I can as I totally know where your comin from and we deserve good treatment, I mean Jesus, it's the least they can do for us! Hey they just gave us another 2k for college, hooah! Too bad that just covers some books, lol! O.K. I'm in Boston, I was also a grunt, an 11b(rifleman). And it really does take a toll on the back!
NY is probably very similar to MA, you guys have the oxycontin stigma like us. Have you tried going back to the VA at all? I'm lmfao, the drs here cant speak f'n english either and don't give a shit about vets, I just happened to luck out w a family dr, my dad's and he's a vet too. So my doc appreciates what we do. Sounds to me like you need what I get, a pain management routine. 've also done all the PT, the shots, yoga, massage, and accupunture. I mean wtf do they expect from us. I don't know about you, but even w my insurance through school, and VA benefits; I can't afford to do all that shit all the time! Plus if the drs had it their way it would be like working another full time job just dealing w our backs!
What you ideally want is a long term pain med with a "breakthrough" med. The longterm med is like Oxycontin(but forget it now it's awful, they changed it and it sucks, I'm in middle of big problem myself trying to find replacement for it) And you think docs would appreciate honesty, but I notice private docs think disabled vets all sel their pain meds, I mean really! FUCK THOSE PUSSY FUCKIN COCKSUCKIN FAGGOT MUTHAFUCKERS!!!! After what we did, they could have a little compassion! So, I would get rid of your present doc and find a new one, or a pain clinic(they have docs that just deal w pain). Tell them you've done it all PT, etc, and that OTC pain meds dont work or the stuff they've given you! If you find even a decent doc, he should at least start u on vicodin, and see if it helps. It probably wont be enuff, so continually complain about the pain, tell them you cant sleep at night, that the pain depresses you, and your quality of life sucks. Make sure you speak up, but be respectful when you do, docs all have big EGOS so you need to be kinda cool. They should continue to raise your meds a little at atime, and keep telling them it doesnt help enuff. You probably want(IMO) 15-30mg oxycodones, they work pretty good as far as what's out there now. And try out some extended release pills, like MSCONTIN, fentanyl patch(maybe u had lollipops in corp?), that's pretty strong med, or u might try new oxycontin, there are some people it works for. But I can tell u r getting shit treatment, esp. for a vet! Write me back w more details, and tell me all meds you've tried, and when you can get an appointment, and I'm pretty sure I can help you get on your way to relief! Semper Fi brother! Jackson
