Have you read other people's blogs? Other people's posts? The Greenlighter's Guide? A glib but effective guideline for how to understand an online community is: "lurk more". In other words, spend a while just reading posts and blogs, and you'll get an idea pretty quickly as to what we're about and the social mores that apply in different corners of the site.
