New Methadone Maintenance Treatment patient and I need some advice/HELP!?

Hi all. I am overcoming a heroin addiction and have been using MMT for just over a week. The first week went great. Now, I cannot stop throwing up.

Here is what I have taken, I am administered the red/pink liquid:

Last Monday (3/9) and Tuesday I was on 30mg (taken at 5:15 AM)
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday I was on 40mg (taken at 5:15 AM)
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday I was on 50mg (taken at 7 AM)
and today (3/17) I was on 60mg (taken at 5:15 AM)

Yesterday I threw up about 6 times from 7:30 AM until noon. The first couple of times it was solid throw up, then all liquid vomit. Today I have thrown up 3 times and it has ALL been liquid vomit. I threw up once at 10 AM then twice within a 10 minute period at 1 PM.

I have not taken anything with my treatment; no slip up's or anything. I do not understand why I am all the sudden throwing up so much. Last week I felt so great with my treatment but yesterday and today have been a nightmare with throwing up so much. Am I moving up too fast on MG for MMT or does this sound like a virus and nothing to do with MMT? I have no other symptoms like a fever or body ache.

I hope someone with more experience with MMT can provide some or insight or help. Anything would be great. My treatment facility is closed until tomorrow morning.

Could be dosing to many mgs

Be sure and eat before dsing or you'll puke no doubt

Sorry to hear you are sick..hope you feel better.

Do you have to be on such a high dose? How did you feel on 20/30mg? Maybe 60mg is too much. This is what I don't understand about the clinics .. why do they rapid increase patients without giving their bodies time to adjust to doses.

I can't do over 30mg in a day, and refuse to increase..I always decrease.

I can't see this being the methadone if you are a Heroin addict because i assume as you were on H then throwing up from opiate use is a thing of the past for you? I know when i first started using Heroin i used to spew up constantly...even the next day after i'd had a heavy smoke but just like anybody i soon built up a tolerance and haven't been sick from opiates in years. I had been on H nearly 3 years and had been IV'ing for the latter 2 before i first got a methadone script and started on 30mg and climbed to 60mg over the following week and didn't experience any vomiting or ill effects at all.

But yeah, i don't think it is the methadone making you sick, possibly whatever the syrup is that your oral solution is made up from is upsetting your stomach? Never heard of that myself but just a thought. I guess if you have a real low tolerance to opiates i could be wrong and if that's the case you need to lower your dose.

How heavy was your heroin use? If you didn't have a huge habit, 60 mgs could be too high of a dose. It's hard to answer you without knowing what your use was like

I was only a light heroin and oxy user and I went on 60mg of methadone and a threw up too a few times for about a week but than it stopped. but it put my tolerance up. Stay as low as possible man. methadone hurts to taper down on. Stay as low as possible. Im glad I tapered off it. don't listen to drs bullshit they will try to od ya on the stuff. u'll wanna sleep all the time
