Hi everyone, I just joined Bluelight a few moments ago and I’m grateful you exist. I’m 67 years old and I’ve seen a lot in my lifetime. I wanted to join a community where I could ask questions without judgement. I’d like to answer the questions I saw in the introductory section but (embarrassed cough here) I can’t seem to find them again. No matter, I’m happy to have stumbled upon you and happy to be part of this community. Thanks!

Welcome to Bluelight! Ask questions; there are plenty of people here who are usually willing to help.

Thanks so much. I’ve got a lot of them too, especially since I’m about to be withdrawn from my methadone which I’ve been prescribed since 2003 (approximately) for pain. I need plenty of advice and knowledge to arm myself against this approaching nightmare.

Well, there are a lot of people who know about that. I am sorry to read that you have to go through that.

Methadone is apparently not easy to get off, of.

There should be plenty of people with advice. You can also start a thread asking for advice, ect.

Welcome to BL

The thread you're looking for may be "stickied" to the very top of the list of threads in this section we're in now, the New Member Introductions.

By the way we actually have a lot of baby boomers on this site. I could name 4 or 5 right off the bat and I don't know many peoples ages to begin with.

Have you done a good taper? What dose?
Is this your doctor's idea or your's?
Do you have comfort meds and if so which ones and can you get them easily?

The long term methadone use is something I hope someone who is familiar with the drug will be able to help.

Methadone, is apparently a great pain killer. If it was for pain the wd's will probably be less, than those who use it as an opiod replacement drug.

However, I guess you already know that methadone has a long and one of the worst opiod wd's.

Hopefully, you have tapered down enough. Also a good supply of comfort meds.

There are people on here who know about methadone wd's; with first- hand experience with methadone wd's.

Hopefully they can weigh in and give you some good advice.

Good luck
