Hi there! if you don t mind me asking, is "addiction studies" like a specialization in medicine and or psychology or is it its own thing ? Is like some degree for counseling or nursing or social work or being a doctor specialised in treating people like ..us or..what? Welcome btw!

Hi there--the addiction studies program I am in is an international graduate degree for people from varied backgrounds. Many of us are doctors and nurses, some work in policy, there are are also some pharmacists, and even a police officer, but a lot of us are medical. The program is designed to provide evidence-based information on substance effects, possible causes for substance use disorders, evidence-based treatments, and social and political issues. I hope that answers your question, and thanks for the welcome. 🙂

That sounds great, plus the fact that you work in a diamorphine clinic (is where they give pharma grade smack to addicts, right?) makes me hope that you are on the good side of the force. Here on Bl you can see how the lives of many Bluelighters were wrecked more by prohibitionism and or inadequate or nonexistent medical care than by drugs, so there s definitely lots of food for thought down here. Cheers!

I try to stay on the good side of things. 😉 Yes, our diamorphine clinic provides medical heroin. It's a wonderful treatment. I agree with you about prohibition--I am very much in favor of safe supply. 🙂
