Hi, I'm working as a drug and alcohol counsellor in Northern NSW, Australia.
I've got my own history of drug use and abuse, starting during the Acid house movement in the uk :)
I have tended to abuse most substances that I have used over the years.
I gave up my last remaining drug of choice, pot a couple of years back following a collapsed lung.
So now I'm pretty sober, in my early forties and working with people who are looking to reduce their substance use.
I love the work, keeps me in touch with the real world and real people.
I'm coming from a harm minimisation standpoint and part of the reason I've joined is that I want to be able to access real information about substances that I do not have personal experience with.
Looking forward to contributing to the threads

Hey Didgeydave, great to have you here.

Awesome to see another Aussie too - and have you checked out our very own corner of Bluelight over at Australian Drug Discussion? I'm biased of course, but it's a great forum, with a lot of interesting threads from specific drug focused ones to others that get you thinking, like spacejunk's recent The banning of drug paraphernalia - harm minimisation or maximisation?

We also have a Quitting/Tapering Thread, where we offer support and advice to people trying to stop using, or lower their dose. Your perspective as a drug & alcohol counseller would be really welcome there - and everywhere else too. We've developed a pretty close community over in AusDD and it'd be great for you to join us :) The rest of the board is fantastic too of course, and there's also Aus social and events, for Aussie non drug related talk. Hope to see you around :)
