Hi all,
I am an on and off AAS user, I would say I have pretty extensive knowledge on PED's and training.
I have been in the game for about ten years, although not consistent throughout.

I always came to bluelight to learn about rec drugs and how to use them more safely, but never came into this forum sub section (never new it was here, always searched this site using google site search).

I'm curious, those of you that are here to learn/share info on AAS, do you also use rec drugs? Do you use them while on AAS?
I know a lot of people that use AAS year round, with heavy dosing every couple months, then back down to test replacement doses (cruising), then back to heavy again, and so on.
That alone can lead to strokes and heart attacks, especially combined with the bad diets a lot of powerlifters and off season bodybuilders have.

Some of these guys also party hard, using mostly cocaine on weekends, with almost daily alcohol consumption and heavy drinking on weekends.
So far no one I know has had any serious health issues, but I feel it is only a matter of time before someone I know will drop dead from a stroke or heart attack as a result of elevated BP and hematocrit combined with the vasoconstriction of cocaine or other stims. I also think they are stressing the hell out of their kidneys with all the dehydration and elevated red blood cell count. That's one that they won't show symptoms of until it's too late. Dialysis doesn't sound very fun to me.

I have enough trouble as it is keeping my BP at 120/80 while on AAS, I can only imagine what it would be like if I were to take cocaine while on cycle.
My normal heart rate is around 65, jumps to 80-90 while on cycle.

I wonder what my friends' HR is on cycle while doing blow. Must be quite scary.

I used amphetamine once while on 250 mg of test and ended up going to the emergency room with palpitations over 145 BPM. My blood pressure was something like 165/100. Lesson learned not to mix any stimulant while on. Hell, I don't even see how people can be on during the summertime without suffocating.

Damn, that would scare the hell out of me.
I had an Octoberfest party at my house last year, and we were indulging in a little coke while talking about lifting. One of the guys at the party casually mentioned he was currently taking 500mg of test per week. I told him that was a bit risky, and he had absolutely no clue that doing coke while on gear was any worse than just using coke. I am shocked at what people are willing to put in their body without doing any research at all.

Tell me about it. Sort of rings a bell with this thread, as a matter of fact.

Mixing rec drugs with steroids is a fucking stupid idea no matter which way you spin it. You should already be 100% dedicated to lifting before starting gear, which means no rec drugs even while off cycle. People who disagree are all small and will never get close to the point where people will take a 2nd glance at them.

To be totally honest, throughout my late teens and mid 20's, I used both. I partied on weekends, and broke my ass in the gym during the week. I still got some amazing results, but nothing like I did until I stopped using recs and was just dead set on anabolics and weightlifting, thats when I saw my true potential. But again, Ive been a rec user most of my life, Ive been off recs for 5 yrs now, except for the occasional slip up. Now I stay on methadone, to keep me away from the dope, and as part of pain management due to my wonder ful cervical spinal fusion, loaded with titanium now. Unfortunatly, without the pain killers, I really cant move without being in pain. Thats what yrs of training, and fighting will do to you

It is advisable not to mix drugs that do not act synergistically.

That being said there aren't any direct drug interactions I can see with steroids and other drugs, there could be however some indirect ones.
To name a few:

Higher blood volume will raise tolerance to certain drugs.

Raised blood pressure, High blood volume (hematocrit) coupled with the cardiovascular effects of stimulants could exacerbate their negative effects.

Dehydration that is promoted by some rec. drugs can be a very bad thing when on gear, as body needs a greater amount of water, and electrolytes to function. Dehydration could also make your hematocrit dangerously high.

Opiates could lower cardiac function needed to pump all that blood. However more likely is that they will work to inhibit testosterone recovery post cycle.

MDMA will increase prolactin levels that could already be elevated on cycle, this would be coupled with its stimulant effects.

Withdrawal from almost any drugs will work to inhibit HPTA recovery and libido post cycle.

Alcohol especially can add additional stress to the liver.

...You can see where I'm going with this

Pretty much every single AAS user I know would use some type of "rec" drug, as long as you're also referring to pharmaceuticals. Valium, Xanax, Viagra, GHB, weed, painkillers, and Adderall are all pretty common in the fitness world.

I smoke weed on cycle used to smoke spice on cycle and Ive used coke and ecstasy while on as well not recently though. my rec drug use is now limited to weed gotta love being married and having a kid on the way woohoo no more partying for me.

I don't ever use while on cycle, but I admit that I sometimes party a bit when I am off.
Maybe you are right, as I would be considered small by bodybuilding standards. I'm 5'9'' 210 @ an honest 8%. I don't look big with a shirt on, but people clearly notice when I am shirtless.
Lifting is not my life, just part of my lifestyle, so I don't feel bad enjoying some recs now and then as long as I am off gear. I agree with you that if you are very serious about your training, recs should be out of the question. I guess I am just not that serious. I didn't get into lifting to become something though, I already new my genetic limitations would keep me from being truly impressive right from the beginning. That's not me justifying my rec use, just clarifying that I never intended to become a serious lifter/BB'er.

Sorry to hear you have to rely on the pain killers. I used to race motocross, and most of my friends are hooked on Oxy's as a result of being prescribed them for bad injuries. Even though I don't think they need them anymore, they are still taking them, and the docs just keep upping the dose.

I agree, especially with the elevated hematocrit and dehydration. Blood pressure increases from water retention and increased RBC's from AAS use, already stressing the kidneys and heart.... add stims that raise the BP even more, and you are asking for a stroke or heart attack, IMO. Many people using stims also drink, so the increased dehydration from that is really taxing the kidneys.

I don't consider weed a drug, just my personal opinion, not wanting to debate anyone.
I think the other drugs you mentioned (besides GHB) are ok if used as prescribed. I am prescribed xanax for anxiety, but I do not abuse them. Just a small dose every now and then when I have anxiety that is keeping me from sleeping. I feel that abuse of benzos probably won't hurt your body much while on AAS (unless using heavy orals too), but benzo abuse is a bad road to go down whether on AAS or not, IMO.

I smoke weed on cycle used to smoke spice on cycle and Ive used coke and ecstasy while on as well not recently though. my rec drug use is now limited to weed gotta love being married and having a kid on the way woohoo no more partying for me.
I am prescribed cannabis for sleep and anxiety, and I use it for just that. I smoke each night just before bed. I don't feel it harms my body in anyway, whether on AAS or not.

Congrats on the new kid on the way.
