new member seeking advice on is it safe to take a certain 3 prescriptions together

Hi. I am a very new member here and instead of going through an introduction im just going to jump right in and ask if there is anybody who can give me some good advice on a couple medications being taken together. Ofcourse no at the same time, and also they are all prescribed to me. I see a pain specialist for my pain med. Methadone 10 mg 10x aday, and a reg. Family dr. For adderall 20mg 4x day and a new insomnia med. Ambien 10 mg i can take up to 4 at night if needed. Both doctors know of the other and reaon for seeing eachother and the meds. Although the insomnia med. Was recently changed to the new 1 ambien due to still no sleep. So although the fam.dr. yes knows of methadone pain med i take i feel as maybe he forgot i dont know? But my question is...is it safe to takr ambien 40mg with the already been taken adderall 80mg and 100 mg of methadone
 
100 mg of methadone a day is a significant dose so you are very wise to be cautious over interactions. I assume that you have been stable on the same dose of methadone for a while now so are perfectly tolerent to it in which case you shouldnt have any problems adding in the Ambien. It is a fairly complicated mix of drugs to be on though with conflicting effects and side effects with central nervous system stimulants as well as CNS depressents and you would normally want to avoid taking Ambien with Adderall as they largely counteract each other but that comes from a recreational point of view rather than a treatment view.
Clearly changing too much without reviewing it with the quacks would be unwise but if, with their agreement, you could shift most of the Adderall to the morning/early afternoon most of the 'speediness' will have worn off by night time allowing the Ambien to work more effectively giving you a better sleep but hopefully retaining all of its theraputic effect. Your post suggests that you might be splitting the methadone into ten doses throughout the day (or alternatively that you are on tablets rather than the more usual mixture)? If you are splitting the dose you dont really need to as it has a very long half life and certainly not into ten doses. It isnt very sedative but taking it later in day as well may help with the sleep even if it is only psychological.

Hey greyhounder. Thanks you for your reply. Im odvious very nervous. So i would like to go into more detail about what i took and when before i take an ambien. Btw im so exhausted but cant sleep wo some type of sleep aid. In this case the dr. Wants me to try ambien. I think when he prescribed it to me he might had forgot to check whatall am i on. So i take 10. 10 mill. Tablets of methadone pill. A day i take it 1 sometimes 2 at a time depends on the pain and so on. Adderall 4. 20 miligram tablets a day i was way off on dosage today i took 2 tablets at 3 and 2 at 8:30 both in the p.m so thats why im worried im really tierd would it be a death wish to go ahead and take at least 2 10 miligram tablets of ambien. Oh yeah i have been on methadone for almost 3 yrs but started off at 30 miligrams daily now on 100. It increased as my tolerance increase. Adderall i started on 60 miligrams a day and 3 mths. Ago he increased it to 80 daily the ambien is new so i gave u the times i took each med what do u think
 
ITs fine your dr would not give it to you if it were not safe ! dr dont forget what narcotics a patient is on, its right in your chart chatnluc! if your nervous then start with less medication ! also maybe the adderall is whats keeping you up at night !!! just a thought.
 
You will be fine whether you take two or four, the worst that could happen is that the Adderall prevents the Ambien from working well enough to give you a decent sleep since you took them quite late today, the best that can happen is that it overrides it and you sleep the sleep of the righteous. It sounds like a good call from the quack and I would go with them.
If you dont sleep well tonight do try to shift the Adderall to ealier in the day tomorrow if possible as that will help a bit.
If you do take the Ambien and you dont sleep dont be tempted to go for a drive or take a trip to the shops and dont drink alcohol as you will be affected even though you are awake and they will remove some inhibitions which can make you think things are a good idea at the time that in the cold light of day you wonder what the Hell you were thinking of as it is clearly a rubbish idea.

When u say...i cant remember if u said the best or worst that could happen with had taken the adderall pretty late today.btw rare to happen jst forgot. Ok had taken the adderall pretty late both doses. And also 100 miligrams of methadone but last took any methadone was at 3ish. Maybe a little before. Best or worst that could happen is a good night sleep with the righteous, that phrase you wrote didnt mean in death right? I took 20 milligrams of ambien about 30 min ago at 4:30 a.m and if it doesn't help me sleep. Get sleepy or stay asleep then ill take 20 miligrams more. I am going to give it aanother hour thought. But all im trying to really understand is that taking methadone and adderall at the doses i said and the times i took them. Then to take ambien at 4:30 a.m all of everything i have taken could it kill me. Also if i dont die which i pray not n i dont sleep now in 40 min. Ill take 20 more miligrams of ambien do u think that all ive decribed and even if i do take 20 more do i have to worry ab dying

Sorry, I didn't take your level of anxiety into account with my language.
No harm will come to you should you take the Ambien.
Neither the Adderall or the Ambien in combination or alone will harm you in the doses prescribed. They are perfectly safe to take together regardless of time of day, the Ambien just wont help you sleep as well if you take them too close together but there is no risk attached whatever the time.
The methadone is the dangerous one but not to you as you are tolerent to it, the amount you take would kill me but doesnt even make you sleepy and it really doesnt matter what time of day you take it. You are right to always consider if other medications interact with it in any way but in this case you are fine, they wont in any way that would cause concern at the doses prescribed.
Take the other half of the Ambien as you thought of doing and try and get your head down again.
Hope you are fast asleep and not going to read this for hours.

i'm assuming the ambien(downer) would counter-act the effects of the adderall(upper), but even so everyone is right in saying that it shouldn't be taken too late in the afternoon. since you are new to ambien i wouldn't push it much past what your doc prescribed daily.
 
I take what im suppose to. As far as today goes at 9a.m i took in schedule 4- 10 miligram methadone and 2-20 miligrams of adderall. I left anotger post about this now im worried. I was so scared last night it ended up taking still being up and scared at 4 am to take just 2 verses 4 ambien. Well either your right taking adderall as late as i did caused the ambien to have 0 effect or i was to scared to fall asleep paranoid of dying. Dunno.so now i took on schedule my meds but aWorWorried can it hurt me lets say to where something very bad could happen bc of the fact that i only took the ambien 4 hrs prior to the morning meds. See i always take it on time all of them and if i didny not a big deal but last night was way later than normal time and i had not taken ambien prior just was prescribed this med. So i am not familiar with the cans and don't and if u dont u live if u do u die side of the drug. But anyways as long as i takr my last dose of adderall early enough i shouldnt have a scare like this. Okay. But what abiut todays meds clashing with the late taking of the ones last night nothing to worry or go to e.r
 
ambien has a very short half life, maybe 3 hours, 4 at the most. so as long as you didn't take more than your regular dose i wouldn't worry about its interaction with today's meds.
 
have you talked to your doctor about getting on something for your anxiety? like maybe valium or a low dose klonopin? or maybe replacing the ambien altogether with a benzo to help you sleep and help your anxiety

I was on 80+mg a day for 16 years + and when I'd go over that + I turned to speed to keep me productive,aderall is a stimulant, amphetimine, and if u do both I can guarantee u will be productive unless u don't sleep at night, but about that ambient..I really recommend NOT...have u ever taken xanex bar or two even? Did u forget something? Myself I hate w a passion that loss of control, if u aren't sleepin try less aderall and less of the done...somewhere u r over indulging and me to have enough done to keep u w strength to run around all day and still sit at night and catch a nod...it helps to close yr eyes and clear yr head cuz methadone is strong and last long enough to live thru a stressful day and still be able to make myself nod. I noticed the speed would actually make me nod like it helps w done but if yr doing so much u can't sleep at night, yr doing too much aderrall most likely cuz spreading yr methadone into too many doses.. Try when u wake take 60-80mg all at once and see how easier yr day goes....ambient Dr Jedi preferred NO.. Thank u
