First time poster, Single Parent , Mid 40's.. been dependant on meds for Several Years...
I have been reading the forum for the last several hours, and from time to time in the previous months, doing some research,
I will start off by saying i am an oxycodone user, using at least 15-17 30mg pills daily , snorting them. which i know i should not be doing, as i do have legitimate pain , previous surgeries, and alot of back problems. my brother told me one day i should try it, as it gets in faster, well, i did, and have been hooked snorting them ever since, sometimes i think im just as addicted to the snorting as i am the medicine.
anyways, sorry if i jump around a little, as it is late, and as most know sleeping is when i can get it, i havent slept a solid 8 hrs straight in years, not to mention i sleep on the couch in the living room and have for over a year as well, im sure the meds have something to do with me not sleeping well, and if it werent for it being just me and my son probably would be tougher.. i am a single dad to a 16 yr old son, which even makes it harder for me to think about stopping, i have no help.. let me say everything was fine until these new gov.t laws came into play, now they have started cutting me down on my medicine , according to the new laws that went into effect sometime this march 2016, for the last 3 - 4 years i have been getting
#270 of the 30's oxy's + #60 of the 30mg Opana's , went in for a DR. visit the other month, got cut down to #60 -30mg oxy, and #60 -40mg opana, thats alot if you take what ive been taking , and for so long... last month it went #60 on oxy, and down to 30mg #60 on the Opana
( oxymorphone ) , well , i didn't cut down like i was suppose to , i was just spending thousands to compensate.. around $3 grand a month, i'm tired of this crap, being a single parent , and spending this kind of money, not to mention i have no life , luckily i have been fortunate enough to work from home . I have stayed on the couch with 2 heating pads for the last several years , yes i do go to the stores ,run some errands , grocery store etc.. i guess some what of a Functioning addict / dependant ? but i really have no life, not much of one anyways, so i am fed up with having to plan my life around the Pill's .. I can't go anywhere , no vacation or Long trips away from home etc.. unless its the day after i get my refills.. but anyways, to the point , i have decided to start suboxone monday (4-25) , got My dr. appt for 1:30 , luckily i have a great DR, family DR.. who cares, and gives me what i think i need pretty much , i guess thats part of the problem , but now the pain pills are limited thanks to the government , so i decided to just get off it all , and get my LIFE back...
As far as the SUB's are concerned From my research , I would think waiting 24-36 hrs should get me clear of Precipitated WD's , i'm really hoping so , or by taking as much as i have & for so long , will it required more time.. if anyone has any input , i would very much appreciate anything from anyone that knows what there talking about , I have a very long , painful journey ahead , all the HELP would be much appreciated...
Any other advice on kicking it all would be great, as far as my past i have been to #2 rehabs , but funny thing is wasn't for any pain pills , was the white powder and drinking, well, since i been on pain meds, i havent touched either... DR said i had been self medicating the pain for all these years, and he would put me on pain meds, who was to know what the future held, i do have legitimate pain, and with my tolerance so high it just doesnt work much anymore, i dont abuse, i just have to take 60mg of oxycodone every 4 hrs to keep from getting sick, and hurting as bad as i do, i really need the pain meds, but its just taking my life away, that i have decided to deal with the pain and get off it all, this way i can at least have freedom... thanks, and like i mentioned any help, pointers , suggestions , or even questions i would gladly welcome....

Hi, Welcome to Bluelight ! !

You're in the right place. Thank you for sharing your pain. I understand, I'm an x opiate user. Yes - Usually 24 - 36 hours before suboxone induction. Are you still taking Opana? If you are taking any extended release you might want to wait 36 hours.

Do you mind if I move your post to Sober Living or another Drug forum?

There are intermittent medications indeed you could take before initiating Suboxone. Some could be prescribed, some OTC. It's possible to have freedom from active addiction. It's a journey as you mention for sure, but so worth it.

Hang in there. Please feel free to ask me any questions. Many on Bluelight I'm sure can relate to your pain and your experience. :) <3

Knoxville, you can do this

The down side of subs is that someday you'll be dealing with coming of of subs. For those on much lower, much lower doses of oxys and ect I would suck it up and kick for 7 days using the Thomas recipe. But in your case, your doses are way too high I'd get on subs as planed. With the responsibility of your son and what ever else that can't just go on hold while you shake and bake for a week , the subs will take take away the sickness and although you'll be somewhat low energy for a while, your energy level will pick up in time. Ask your doctor his suggestions what other med he can give you to ease the transition.

I wish I'd have found blue light before I made the decision I wanted more out of life and made the switch to subs. My doctor had a suggested start time to allow enough of all the opiates to leave my system. 6 hours before I was to start the subs I thought "ones last hurrah " and took everything I had. 6 hours later I took 8 MG of subs. 20 minutes later discovered precipitated withdrawal.

Anyway from what I've learned going off and back on subs countess times (highly unrecommended ) I would wait 24 hrs before starting subs ,36 if the opeana is extended release. Longer if you can.

Also there is good information on this site about vitamins and amino acids ,etc that will help you with low energy. If I could do I over again when I first filled the script for the subs I would have flushed any drugs I had left, removes the temptation to go off track before you start this new and much better path of taking the drug aspect chaos out of your life. At some point you may decide to give up the subs as well or maybe your Dr has a more rapid sub detox in mind. Either way it a hell of a lot better than what your going through now. Don't be afraid to reach out to this forum as much as you need to about anything. Most B/L members have been / are where your at and they understand the pain you're going through and there's so much willing help around here. Please keep us informed.
