New member need some help oxycontin is to expensive

Hey everyone I'm new to bluelight and need some help. I'm currently on 30 mg oxycodone 6 times a day and 60 mg of oxycontin 3 times a day.they both work great but the oxycontin is getting too expensive for me and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on other opiates that r cheaper? I've tried almost everything method one I had too many side effects. Morphine just didn't work maybe I didn't have the right dose I don't know. I get the Roxie 30s and the price is fine with my insurance but the contin is killing me financial . The patches didn't work unless I abused them having broken them open to get the fentanyl . I'm a bigger guy 330 lbs so maybe I have too much fat for the to absorb good. I'm at a loss here and my dr isn't much help don't think they really care I can't afford it. Can you guys post some suggestions I could bring to my dr since that's the only way I think I will b able to help myself.
 
Have you tried hydromorphone generic for dilauidid or ask your pharmacy for discount cards for kadian. What insurance do you have I work at cvs and most meds with generics are usually $5 for a 30 day supply with most insurance companies. Opana is also pretty good and I think they came out with a generic.
 
No I haven't tried hydromorphone. That's something they have a generic for? I have blue cross so pretty good insurance.
 
Yeah hydromorphone is generic for dilaudid. Its worked well for the couple of people I know whose been prescribed it.

Welcome to Bluelight! After a quick search on the net this is what came up:
I tried the 10mg Oxycodone route but I was taking quite a few a day. My Dr offered me Methadone but it doesn't agree with me. I did some research and asked my Dr if I could try Levorphanol and it works great!! The half-life is about 8 hours. The only down side is the medication only comes in 2mg tabs. 2 mgs of Levorphanol is roughly equivalent to 10mgs of Oxycodone and is cheaper than generic Oxycodone 10/325. I take 2mgs every 6 hours and my prescription of 120 a month runs 96 dollars at Walgreens. Just a suggestion. Good luck I know how it feels to be without insurance. Have a great day!!!! Greg
