Hi, I am a new member that has just jumped on the Suboxone wagon. Going on my second week. It seems to be working pretty well, but have a few side affects which I am sure all all normal. They have me on 12mg which is a strip and a half per day. I take it in the morning at the same time every morning. Is this the best way to go or should I maybe take half in the morning and the other half at night? I am tired all the time. Just want to stay in bed all day and sleep. The other is that they have me coming back each week for a urine sample and so I can get a new refill. They only give me one week at a time. Probably the law or something. But that is kinda makes me nervous, because of something happens with a screw up in my appointment or some other known reason, guess I am out of luck.

I see that you can get depended on this stuff, so that's something that I really don't want to happen. I would be switching from one drug to another one. I was on about 10-15 norco's a day. Started taking these things for a condition in my neck, but became addicted on them really quick. I have had drug problems in the past. So me and drugs do not do too well.

Anyway, looking for some support here and feedback.
thanks,
martinbr

Hey there I have to take my suboxone 3 times a day. Are you getting sick at night? If so then go ahead and take it twice a day I have never known how people take it once a day and get by the whole day it wears off after 6 hours for me. The good thing about twice a day or 3 times a day dosing is you don't need nearly as much to keep well. I started at 8mg once a day which is a pretty big dose but i had a 8ball a day china white habit from selling heroin for a decade.I went from 8mg a day once in the morning then when is switched to split dosing because it wasn't holding me anymore I was able to go from 8mg a day to 2mg taking 1mg in morning and 1 at night. Now I'm in 0,3mg every 6 hours which works better then any dose I've ever been on it even gets me high now that I'm under the ceiling limit of buprenorphine.
After a while bupe starts to not last as long with a lot of people meaning they need to split their dose so they don't get sick at night. It also reduces side effects when split up I had terrible constipation before taking it once daily now it doesn't cause my intestines to come to a complete hault so I can shit easier.

Its all up to you finding what works best for YOU the only thing with split dosing is it cause more addictive behaviour because it causes you to dose nore often like when you were on full agonists. Especially if you lower your dose to 3mg or under it can become very addictive as you are actually getting high on the stuff it doesn't block itself from getting you high like high doses do low doses convert to nor-bupe which is a full agonist like morphine is so doses 3mg and under feel more like full opiate agonists and gives you pain relief and euphoria just like oxys morphine and heroin whereas high doses 4mg and up cause no high as its only a partial agonist and it blocks other opiates which is why doctors push high doses onto people who don't need it so they won't get any buzz of the stuff and so it blocks other opiates such as heroin from working.
I never realised how strong this stuff is till I tapered down to 0.25mg and realised I was getting higher/nore pain relief on this dose then I was on 8 mg which gave me no feeling at all. When pain patients get this drug prescribed for pain not for addiction purposes they get doses of 0.2mg every 4 hours usually since that way it is a full agonist like morphine is and bupe is only effective on pain the first 4-6 hours after its taken.
Instead of taking oxys now I take sub's for pain which works good its like taking a few oxy tens every time I dose and it doesnt cause emy tolerance to go up meaning I can continue taking this same dose for 20 years and never need to raise it to get the same effects bupe is cool that way. It was a godsend for me as my oxy/ heroin habit was getting higher and higher to get the same relief until my body just couldn't take anymore so bupe is awesome its now my favourite opiate it gets me buzzing almost as good as heroin that's for sure certainly don't crave H anymore way less then when I was on large doses its very addictive though mabye more so than heroin as its so easy to maintain on so be careful whatever you decide

Aloha & Welcome martin :)
Glad to have you with us, and as part of our great big family.
Wow.. You just got probably some of the BEST advice, from one of the Best guys on here, about the whole Suboxone deal. I've actually followed him since he started on here and read about how he perfected & controlled that taper, down to a science. Hehe, which is why I hold TrainS opinion & advice in very high regard. Can't begin to express how invaluable & I dare say vital, that
TrainS has been in my own newfound detox & FREEDOM from some of the worst opiates I could have ever imagined putting into my body.
Uugh..won't bore you with my own story, but I can say that my good friend TrainS is absolutely one of the driving catalysts in my own newfound freedom. I'm thinking it probably wouldn't hurt to ask him to help ya get familiarized with our forums & community through the NMI program we have. I know that he's always willing to help out a new friend & can tell ya now, he's deffinately one of the good guys.
I do have to also say that if you haven't already met Captian H, that's probably another person who most deffinately has absolutely great information to share on the whole Suboxone/Bupe thing. He's also an awesome person to get to help you get acquainted with the forums & such.
Well, take care & lookin forward to seeing you in all of the forums/threads around here.
Peace & Aloha,
~ N3f ✌:)

Hiya Martinbr,

You may be interested in Suboxone/ Buprenorphine Megathread and FAQ V.18.0 and Personal Accounts of Addiction What's Your Story which are based in the sub-forum, Other Drugs (OD) .

You may also be interested in May getting and / or staying sober thread vs. May Flowers based in the sub-forum, Australian Drug Discussion

and the social thread;
- New Members Introductions (NMI) Social Thread

There also an Adoption Programme which is basically a programme where current members (Bluelighters) befriend new members (Greenlighters) and help them settle into the site. If you decided that you'd like to become "adopted," feel welcome to post a reply to the adoption thread, expressing your interest which a bit about you (if you wish). The thread is also one of the sticky threads at the top of New Members Introductions (NMI) sub-forum.

I would also advise you to read the Greenlighter's Guide and the rules known as BLUA (Bluelight User Agreement) because they protect us members as well as the site. For instance; one of the rules is no sourcing, if a member had not read the rules and discusses sourcing, then they may receive a warning or whatever, and if they had have read the rules, they would have avoided receiving, eg a warning.

Please take care of you and we are here if you have any further questions,

Hello everybody... I am new as well and very interested in knowing different things about suboxone, I am currently under the suboxone treatment for 1 week and 1 day so far... Can't wait to meet new people and learn new things as well as share my experiences!...:)

I'm on the suboxone bandwagon too, and after hanging out here for awhile you will know more about suboxone than the Dr. who is prescribing it for you. I'm also in one of the programs like yours- I'm a couple months in to it. My conclusion: I like this wave. If you're going to mess with opiates, suboxone seems to be the smoothest way to do it. I'm trying to cut my dose down too, like the others have said it works better at lower doses, but the doctors are so casual about starting people so high like 12 mg with you. Also as other have said, cut that dose into 2-3x a day. It will smooth out the energy levels for you so you won't be so tired.
It's a pleasure to ride this wave with you!

I went to my doc last week on Monday and took my first dose of suboxone Tuesday morning... The first few days I just took 4mgs twice a day cuz my insurance won't pay and I can't afford the whole script.. Then when I had more money, later in the week I got more suboxone and started taking 8mgs twice a day like the doc said I'm suppose to do... I know now that my addiction wasn't bad enough for 16mgs a day and Ive taken a total of 12mgs today and I will take less tomorrow and so on cuz I have no choice... I'm not liking the suboxone like I thought I would... It's way more expensive than my opiate addiction was or at least equal in the cost and today I feel very jittery, guess I'll take my last xanax and pray and hope I can get my refill early tomorrow... I don't have much willpower, never have... All I do is sit around and only do the things I have to do

Yea I'm sure you will feel better at a lower dose high doses feel really weird or make you feel like complete shit. Get down to at least 2mg preferable 1mg that way you get more typical opiate like effects ,you save money, and you don't get horrible side effects.

I'm so grateful that you responded and I cut and pasted the response...in your other respnse you told me to empty my mailbox..OK how do I do that...this is new to me and I have to figure it out. Then I will respond. THANK YOU SO MUCH...

Hiya Michelle,

Welcome to Bluelight. To empty your mail box. Go to the top of the screen, to the right the third tab is "Notifications," click that a drop down menu will appear, click inbox.
You'll see a list of all the E-mails (or PMs as they're called at BL) look to the right, each one has a circle by it. Mouse click on the circle - then scroll down to where it says "Selected Message" (still on the right side of the screen) click that and another drop-down menu will appear. Click the circle next to "Delete" then the "Proceed" tab. Your messages will then be deleted and you're inbox will have space again.

Hope that helps - and you're more than welcome to PM me anytime if you want any help, advice or just a friend to chit chat too about Bluelight.

Take care,
Evey

Hey. Rookie here (to BL) not to gear, regrettably. I was on bupe when it was straight subby, & at the time i wasn't impressed at first, mostly bcos it wasn't Mdone, and therefor I couldnt use other opiates... plus, I rushed to use it, which put me into rapid D... uhhh. Anyway... eventually, weeks later, when the sub was in my system, and i finally realised no matter how much H I was gonna use wasn't gonna work: then it occurred buprenorphine MAY work... PLUS I take subX when I feel like it now, which is daily, but minimally.
To me (and that's just me) subX is a walk in the park... compared to Mdone... which was living hell. Serious. WAAAAAY worse than H even. I came off inside and it was 3 months before I slept, the only conciliation was the wild eyed look I gave evryone prob kept my sex life down.
Flash-forward 6 years... still on sub, but have a life...
Good luck peeps
