New laws for prescription medication?

Just a thought, restrain supply, uncrease demand..?. or perhaps theDr. There is under review. Have a great day!!
Does that happen where a doctor can be under review? I think this might be the case with my doctor as he has really cut down on his prescriptions to me of benzos and now tells me another doctor has to review my pain meds for chronic pain.

There are a lot of arrogant cunts here in Australia. Case in point, I'll give you my story (it's in The Dark Side under "My Story" if you want to read it). This was for fucking prednisone for sudden sensorineural hearing loss - which should be given to the patient IMMEDIATELY if SSNHL is suspected, and in my case it certainly was but Dr Slutface wouldn't give me any - such a basic fucking bitch medication, yet she wanted me to go deaf and commit suicide than try and help me out. Lack of compassion. Lack of empathy. She would have rather made me cry, scream and beg for a fucking steroid medication I urgently needed or I was going to risk permanent hearing loss in my right ear.

It's no surprise that people are having a hard time with getting meds.

I am not sure about laws tightening but the Australian Medical Association and the Royal College of General Practitioners have both tightened up their guidelines for when benzos can be prescribed.

They are now considered a THIRD line treatment for anxiety disorders after CBT and SSRI’s.They are allowed for sleep disorders for no more than 4 weeks, but doctors are advised to look for the underlying cause of the insomnia and treat that - ideally with a non-drug therapy. They are specifically contraindicated for people with current or former substance abuse disorder.

Basically they are going out of fashion with GP doctors in favour of alternative treatments. However, they are still prescribed for people who are resistant to those alternative treatments after trying them.

In my experience though, psychiatrists remain more liberal in prescribing benzos, possibly because they operate under different prescribing guidelines.

So why it would be denied you in your case is beyond me. It really does not make any sense whatsoever.

Because the doctor was a cunt. That's why. I told her I had SSNHL, I told her I took it before, but nah, she wasn't having any of that.

Maybe I should have told her that if I suffered permanent hearing loss because of her refusal to give me the steroids that I would have killed myself. I bet that would have changed her attitude...but I was so terrified of being scheduled and being denied steroids any way. In hindsight that's what I should have done because I bet someone at Wyong Hospital would have known that steroids were urgently needed for this condition.

Why would permanent hearing loss in one ear take you down such a dark road? You have two ears and I assume the other is good to go (and please believe me when I say I am NOT being judgmental nor facetious nor flippant in my asking and my comment i.e. I really do have a good reason for asking and as I've noted I think I get where you're coming from to be honest).

How would you like it if someone permanently fucked up your life because they had too much of an ego problem and refused you the medication which you needed in 24 to 72 hours?

You understand that hearing only in one ear isn't really going to allow me to enjoy music or talking to people close to me, no where near as with both ears. There is depth perception, there is 3D, there is a fuller sound. For God fucking sake, it's not the same.

And yes, I would have killed myself. I had access to the barbiturates. And if it ever happens again I'll walk under a bus - preferably right in front of the hospital or clinic where I was refused treatment. I am sure peeling the remnants of my corpse off the road would probably give them something to think about for a very, very long time.

I reckon the whole point of having two of just about everything is to have a spare just in case you lose one.

If you think your life is equivalent in value to having only half your hearing then you may want to up the number of “good things” in your life.

Apart from the joy of listening to very loud music in stereo, I can’t think of a single thing I love doing that could not still be done with only one working ear.

Now, I think everybody’s life is their own property and they have the right to dispose of it as they wish if such disposal does not negatively effect other people. However, I am always saddened by people who place such little value on their life. Conversely, I am always delighted by those people with serious disabilities, like Kurt Fearnley for example, who still find joy and fulfilment in life.

But then again I’m always glass half-full and would just be grateful I still had one working ear when so many other poor bastards are way more disabled. Though I’d still sue the negligent doctor that caused it.

No mate, it doesn't work like that. You lose depth perception, you lose directivity, and you lose the fullness.

Do you really understand how enormously valuable my hearing is to me?

Of course, as am I...but was their disability caused by an arrogant doctor being an egotistical cunt? I don't think so. In my case it would have been caused by a doctor with ego problems. I don't think I would accept that.

I already have diffuse brain damage, emotional and mental health problems because an obstetrician thought his game of golf was more important than delivering me back in 1979 when my mother needed him the most...she ended up in labor for 36 hours. I suffered hypoxia and ended up with lifelong problems.

Another life sentence caused by an arrogant doctor? You fucking kidding me? No thanks. If it happens again I'm out of here.

In a way most are constantly monitored in one way or another by whatever the equivalentof the U$A's-déA. Depending on your region. From my experience writing scrips without adequate diagnosis, previous treatment, and background information on the patient can cause the doctor to be audited in a way, placing the doctor in a possible position to have their license revoked.

ISn't it that doctors are not prescribing it because tthey fear getting sued or prosecuted for over prescribing? This is the reason they don't prescribe in the US much. You guys are saying they do it just because they are arrogant.

I also don't get why they wouldn't prescribe predisolone?

Well, of course. It's ideological. It's because they're just fucking arseholes. It's the truth. Someone is going to die one day here in Australia because a doctor fobbed them off and refused to listen to them. Then someone will sue to fucking hell out of them. It's how it goes.

LOL. You just answered your own question. The doctor was an arrogant fuckface. End of story. She didn't care if I ended up losing my hearing in my right ear even when I continuously explained to her what the problem was because I had it back in 2007 so I knew what type of hearing loss it was. It was SSNHL. Luckily it came back completely on it's own.

Yes, sorry to say, here in Australia, there are plenty of arrogant cunts in this country. Australia is probably much, much worse than many other countries - it's the "prison culture" here in Australia that is the problem. So many people here are such fucking stand-offish clowns.

I really hate to say it, but it's so fucking true.

That sucks I've been researching moving there from california but I keep hearing horrible shit like this. What is your opinion on NZ?

Also. Can you elaborate on penal colony culture. I keep reading that but not sure what it is. Just general ignorance and arrogance?

Mostly arrogance. I think we inherited most of our attitudes from the early settlers.

That doesn't mean Australia is bad or anything. Much of the Southern/South-Eastern USA is the same.

It's a great country but with its caveats.

It's mostly good natured banter hurled at us by our English brothers and sisters.. Because Australia was a Penal Colony up until about the mid 19th century.

I grew up in the south and live in California now.

What area or major city of Aus would u say is the most progressive and diverse? What is the approach to work life balance like? Like in the US we work ourselves to death and taking vacations is looked down upon vs Europe is much more relaxed.

Are u happy with the healthcare system overall? Do you have to see specialists and is it hard to see then? Overhere we are brainwashed into thinking your healthcare system is garbage even though it is ranked higher than ours.

Sorry for so many questions my wife and I are very serious about finding a new home to live out the rest of our lives. We are an I interracial black and white couple. Is that weird in certain areas of Aus? Like I would never live with my wife in the deep south of america. With how volatile it is now I dont even feel comfortable driving through the rural parts of oregon with her. recently armed citizens were just blocking roads and questioning ppl at gunpoint with AR15s.

You would be shocked. In the south (the states) interracial couples are very common. Even more so than the north. Those chubby southern white girls love athletic black guys, and they love those thick white girls. Its totally accepted.
