I just read on my Huffington Post app that basically any opiate-containing narcotic pills with acetaminophen (tylenol) in it, no matter if it's a 5 mg Vicodin pill or a 10 mg Percocet, must cap the amount of acetaminophen (tylenol...APAP) at 325 mg per pill!
Now, I think the Huffington post is a British paper so possibly this could have been for Britain only. But has anyone else read about this?
I was thinking to myself that "Wow, people already swallow 50 Vicodin 5/500's a day....imagine now!" The government or whomever is doing this obviously so as to hopefully "reduce liver problems" associated with high levels of acetaminophen, but it does seem to be somewhat of a "celebratory" day for relatively low-dosage prescription Vicodin and Percocet addicts (...and Codeine too I suppose...hah, codeine fehhh)!

thumbs up. I really hope this is true for america. I hope it reduces the size of vicodin pills. Have you ever seen a 7.5/750? It is ridiculous

I was going to ask what the cap was but I just saw someone said 325... Honestly I still think that's too much especially for the 5mg hydros or percs people are still gonna take more than the 4mg daily requirement for apap... I just got 20 5/500's and am gonna have a hard time only taking 8 every 24 hours cuz im also on a low dose of sub (.5mgs) and its gonna be hard to break through that w only 5 or 6

I saw this in Drugs In The Media, its still awesome though, certainly a step in the right direction. Can't wait for those 10/325 vicodins to be out!

Edit, I found the DITM thread:

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=548983

There is a 10/325 hydro out already: Norco 10/325 and a generic is available as well. Here in the States. So ask your doc to switch you. Back when i was taking hydros my doc had me on 10/325 five times a day.

In fact, there is a Hydrocodone preparation called Zodol that has 10/200mg of acetaminophen (yes, not ibuprofen which usually comes in 200mg preps like vicoprofen). Norco and Zodol. Just prescribe that to the patients, not create limits on APAP for people who use them for acute pain. Stupid, really.

^yep.

Since this is news, its better to direct the discussion to the DitM thread that our good old neighborhood thread linked to above.
