Pennsylvania, right up your alley...
I was wondering if this new Urine test that Redwood Labs has can really test for it up to 72hrs later. With a half-life of 2-3hrs, how could that be? Plus the test uses Liquid chromatography, and tests for the parent chemical, not metabolites. Does anyone have any input

they can test this because they are aliens from mogadolagam-56.
a backwoods planet famed for its macaroni caves and whore-exporting bizness...

@LMA:

I'm not aware of any rule against drug testing questions. From the sticky thread in the now-defunct testing Q&A forum, the explanation was that that forum was being closed because the mods felt all worthwhile questions had been answered, and concluded that it would now be up to the individual forum mods to decide whether or not to allow drug testing questions. It's clear that the forum they closed in '06 has no info to offer about a new urine test that was only announced last month, and since discussion for synthetic cannabinoids itself is already here on PD, it seems like this thread belongs here as well. If a more experienced mod disagrees, feel free to close or move the thread, but my personal judgment (which is what the most official statement on drug testing questions I could find tells me to use) says that this is a worthwhile topic and should be discussed freely. Nothing in either the BL User Agreement nor the PD Forum Guidelines tells users not to discuss drug tests. I assume that if the PD mods had reached a firm decision to ban drug testing discussion on this board, it would be in the Guidelines along with no ID threads, no "what should I take?" threads, etc.

Is there a link to some relevant information on this test? I'd like to read about it. I know a guy at either Auburn or University of AL was working on drug tests for cathinone type chemicals a little while back, hadn't heard anything on JWH's though.

And since this is a question about new drug testing & not how to pass a drug test I think its fine.

Thanks for the share tip, love. ;):\

It's really easy to test for the presence of JWH type compounds and also pretty much any research chemical using GC/MS or LC/MS. This has been known since the technique was first developed. They're generally expensive to run for this purpose, but are used when absolute accuracy is required and when novel compounds are suspected (like in athletics).

Yes, it was just a matter of time. It's quite possible that this sort of test is too expensive for most places to even think about using, though. Some places, however, are using it already. Here's one article about how a drug court has been noticing that a very high percentage of its participants are testing positive for herbal blends/synthetic cannabinoids:

Of course, even the testing company doesn't provide direct information on how long very heavy/chronic use can be detected in urinalysis. Hopefully some of you find these links interesting/helpful.

The test only costs 50-$ usd for the probation dept. with their long standing account. If the test is positive then we pay for it anyway. I am concerned b/c it was heard that our county is starting it this week, but no stipulation has been made against it yet. I have heard though that it is covered under the analog act when it tries to "mimic" another drug and is consumed by humans.

The simple solution to avoiding JWH 018 and 073 DT's would be to move onto JWH 250, or maybe another synthetic cannabinoid.

I would be sketched on that if I was on probation parole because if GCMS is the method they are using to detect it then I would think they would be able to reconize it anyway.
