I just moved to Orlando from upstate new York as a geographical fix for a broken heart. I am thirty, a chef, and struggling to meet cool people to shoot the breeze with. I have been reading these forums and decided to join. hanks for havingme...and hello to all my central Florida blue lighters.

Welcome to bL, sounds like you'll want to check out Second Opinion for sure. Being that you're a chef the recipe thread should be of interest, and it's a great place to start up friendly conversation.

Just a friendly reminder that while making friends and the like is fine, we have a strict policy against sourcing. That is to say, you aren't allowed to give out information on where to obtain drugs, or their prices. Keep that in mind and you should be just fine.

I look forward to seeing you around the site. :)

I was born in Cato.Im a farm boy...I lived in Syracuse for most of my life. My son is still back in ithica so I'll be visiting again soon. I'm in Florida now...I'll post when I head back...(will be within the month) and maybe we will meet up at empire or Coleman's.

I'll take you up on that offer. PM me when you know the dates you will be here and we'll link up! Hot shit. Maybe you can cook for me.

I love to cook. Very new don't know how to do pm's or friend requests. Syracuse is a small town...I bet we have seen each others faces before. Please teach me to pm.

Go to your "notifications" on the top right of any page on BL. Click on it. If you have a new PM (private message) it will show. If not, it will say no new messages. I think if you are a "greenlighter" you can only send one PM a day. Not sure, somebody pls verify this. I couldn't send more than one or two messages until I was a "bluelighter". You can also create an avatar and write something in your profile. I didn't figure that shit out until 2 or 3 days after I registered.

Also, something else I learned a few days after I registered. To stay up to date on threads you've started or posted in, you have to subscribe to the thread. I didn't know this at first and kept refreshing the thread I was in. You can have instant notifications sent to your email so you know when somebody responds or posts.

And I'm sure we have seen each other at some point. It's gon be hilarious when we meet and it's gon be like OMG I know you! Or, do you know so and so?? Ha.

As to the PM questions, to send one, click the persons name you want to send to then the private message option. More or less self explanatory form there. To see if you have any new messages or friend requests, you want the very top of the page in the dark blue bar, the notifications drop down will have a numeric count and clicking it will allow you to view them. Restrictions for greenlighters is as follows:

What's the difference between a Greenlighter? and a Bluelighter?

First of all, a Greenlighter is a new member who has made fewer than 50 posts.

During this phase of your membership, your privileges will be restricted:

  • Greenlighters can Private Message (PM) anyone, but are limited to 1 PM every 3 hours. Use it wisely. Keep in mind that if you are caught abusing the PM function (trying to source, for example) there will be severe consequences.
  • Greenlighters are restricted to 5 stored PMs (that includes everything: inbox, sent, drafts, archives). You'll have to continually delete old messages to make room for new ones.
  • Greenlighters cannot attach files to messages.
  • Greenlighters cannot post in The Lounge.
  • Greenlighters cannot create a Blog or post in other people's Blogs.
Once you have made 50 posts, you will become a Bluelighter and you will be able to PM regularly, store 100 messages and post without restriction. Please note that it can sometimes take up to 24 hours for this change to take affect, so please be patient. Also, please don't create a new thread in the Support forum asking about this - come back tomorrow instead. It will almost certainly have happened overnight.

For more information on the other user titles, see this article in the Bluelight Wiki - Bluelight User Titles.
To set up your subscriptions you want settings (in the very top blue bar) --> general settings (on the side bar) --> Default Thread Subscription Mode: Instantly using email (on the drop down menu about half way down the page) --> Save Changes (at the bottom).

Then to view your subscribed threads just click settings (as you did in the very first part of setting this up, and they will appear there).
