Hi, joined today, been visiting occassionally for a few months. I am a middle aged guy, lifetime swinging a hammer, working on myself for about a year, lost 50 lbs, got in shape, improved blood numbers all around now, in pretty good shape for a guy in his 40's. Thing is, have 4 damaged Lumbar and 1 Cervical discs, repeated torn flexor tendon, nerve pain, extreme muscle spasums, other injuries and very high stress.

Never was a drug user, got in pain management 5 years ago, helped alot and keeps me working. That said, now I am on moderately heavy stuff percs, zanaflex, soma, morphene, etc, etc daily and just keeping things at bay. Cant live without it all now, just had an epidural last week and get as many as 40 shots in joints in a year. Have knack for becoming tolerant, can take enough opiates to kill a horse at times to minimal effect. Tore a disc last year pouring concrete and 3 shots of a coctail of dilaudid and fentanyl were required to break the waves, I still stayed awake reading a book when the pain was finally supressed, the ER doc said he never saw anyone soak up that much and remain lucid.

Dont like being dependant, like the way I feel without meds even less. Cant change careers for a variety of reasons, feel like I am treading water at this point. Anyway, have used some of the things I have read here some were BS, some were useful. Looking to maximize what I am doing, sitting at my desk with pain shooting from my lumbar to my knee as I write this. Elbow hurts just typing.

I know many, many have it much worse and always try to keep perspective. Consider myself lucky when I go to the pain doc looking at many of the folks I am there with.

Not a recreational user, not interested in tweaking, etc. (I am libertarian about those things, think it should all be legal, not a fan of restricting personal choice and self determination in any area of life) Just looking for a place to ask the occasional question and possibly connect with folks in similar situations.

Long winded intro completed, regards bluelighters.

Welcome to Bluelight Archer. :) I'm sorry to hear about all the pain you've been having but do congratulate you on your weight loss. That's no small feat and something that many people struggle with. If you haven't already, you should take a look at the Pain Management Mega Thread over in Other Drugs.

Let us know here if you have any questions about Bluelight. :)

Thanks Spork (great name btw...) The weight loss was not that hard really just eat less and eat better food,it takes alot of commitment to the goal, the first 20 came off in a month it was slow after that, been maintaining at 195-200 for 4 months (I am 6'2"). I looked at the pain mgt thread and will continue reading. Pain has become a constant companion the last few years, its a strange thing to get used too....
