I'm back after being away for awhile. actually i went to Zurich and dosed (I'm 10+yrs on Indiana MMT) at a clinic there. unbelievable! they were so concerned about ME...afraid I was sick. before I knew what was happening they were handing me a cup of methadone and then gave me a week of take homes (it's taken 10 yrs to get my US take homes. $7/dose vs. $14/dose in US. Swiss clients could not understand why I was giving them money. (health care reform, anyone?). then I could leave my luggage in a locked closet if I needed to. I was not a criminal!!! and the Director thought if I wanted to spend an extended period of time there I should write the Swiss Embassy and just let them know I needed longer term treatment and that would mean Immediate take homes (if my clinic sent proof of my dosage.) I did have a written letter from my counselor verifying my dose and time at clinic.
