can anyone tell me how i get a nice avatar into my profile?
i don't get it....

Click the settings button on the top right of the page.
Then on the left under "My Settings" you will see an edit avatar feature. You can either upload it yourself or link it from another site.

i like to use Microsoft Paint to crop/shrink my desired avatar down to 150x150pixels before i upload it
