New Here, do any of you have to "mix a cocktail" of things to get them to work?

I have insomnia and I take 2.5 (25 mg total) Ambien plus two over the counter sleep aids plus an Alka-Seltzer. Is this normal? I don't do it for recreation because I actually want sleep and I have been doing this same thing for 5 years now. Dr recently gave me ativan for anxiety. Can I use this in place of Ambien? So far I have taken up to three mg and really can't tell much, except that I did fall asleep after awhile.

the alka seltzer seems strange in a cocktail made for sleep reason why you take that?
if the ambien isnt working try something else there is no one pill for all just tell the doc
i would take temazepam when i couldnt sleep works better

The Alka Seltzer cold is what I take which has an antihistamine in it, and honestly it is more of a habit, I actually like the way it tastes...lol The combo works, just didn't know if there were other combos that work good too. I have clonazepam and Ativan also but rarely take them because I am not sure of their strength.

the ativan will knock you on your ass faster than ambien; well, that depends how bad your anxiety is. I was scripted Ambien and was on the 10MG pill at the time; there were times I'd fight through it just to hallucinate a bit; it helped at first but quickly stopped and I gave up on it.

benzos help me sleep best; also etizolam, which is something still legal in US and you can buy online; works just like a benzo and will knock you on your ass when it comes to bed.

another sleep aid that helped ME would be seroquel; it works but you wake up groggy as a MOFO, which is why I like a benzo before bed because I wake up feeling great; nice and calm and relaxed.
