New FBI Numbers Reveal Failure of "War on Drugs": One Drug Arrest Every 19 Sec. in US

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- "A new FBI report released today shows that there is a drug arrest every 19 seconds in the U.S. A group of police and judges who have been campaigning to legalize and regulate drugs pointed to the figures showing more than 1.6 million drug arrests in 2010 as evidence that the "war on drugs" is a failure that can never be won.

"Since the declaration of the "War on Drugs" 40 years ago we've arrested tens of millions of people in an effort to reduce drug use. The fact that cops had to spend time arresting another 1.6 million of our fellow citizens last year shows that it simply hasn't worked.

Not sure if this is just in Connecticut or what, but community service now has to be done through private companies that take people to various places to do different community services. There are set hours to go and only on 5 days a week, so when doing my hours I hardly ever saw the same people more than once.

Out of maybe 2 dozen people, I think only two or three weren't there because of drugs. Most were there for small possession too.

At least it was recently changed so that if you are caught with a half ounce or less of weed it's now only a fine. However, it didn't affect anyone that got arrested before the law change.

Living in Texas, conservitive bull-shit is delt with on the daily,

From 2010-2011 i was introduced with the jail-life, where all young drug offenders may find themselvs, next to killers, rapiest, and all the low of the low of society. Kids, age 12-17 are put in jails and lock-up institutions, start terms as good kids, and leave as hardened criminals, minds warped around the life they knew in jail, all because of small marijuana possesion charges, im one of the few survivors, of jail. To leave mentally in one peice.

This is not the way to deal with the 40% of jail inmates who are locked up for small drug charges, 90% non violent. this is not how to cure an 'epidemic' of drugs.

They don't understand that they can't win the war on drugs. They keep trying but they never actually have indications of their methods working.

My question: Do people still use drugs after all of their years of trying to stop them?

^Ha yea i dont even think of drugs as being illegal so them being illegal doesnt affect me in the least. I just call someone up hey you can get :insert drug here: right? Yep. Then i drive over and pick it up and carry on with my day not even thinking that i just commited a crime and did something illegal.

As all drug transactions should be.

But getting the cops involved is a whole different story. Literally ruining kids lives who are doing well and are our future teachers, doctors, nurses and engineers over a fucking pill or whatever.

I believe it is pointless in a sense to continue busting people. Here is a great example that it will never end. Recently in my town law enforcement initiated a sting properly called "Operation: Painkiller". In the string they arrested 20 people and all of those who were caught served 2 months. Either in prison or juvenile detention centers. They all had recently got out, and they went right back to where they left off before they were incarcerated. It is a-shame that drugs have taken over this country. But the cops should be more worried about protecting the community from robberies, theft, domestic, and everything else. Drugs are always there, they have always been there, and are always going to be. Stop wasting money on putting these people in jail, use the money for other more important things. And focus on stopping other crimes within the community!!!!
