New Drug That’s As Addictive As Heroin And Perfectly Legal

Circumcision (any one who defends this based on cultural or religious reasons has to be a textbook retard - removing a protective sheath covered with thousands of nerve endings specifically designed for erotic sensation and with specific immunological function is disgusting, barbaric, and absolutely inappropriate in ANY civilized society, we are not cavemen, we're fucking civilians! Non-medically-necessary circumcision should be banned, immediately, and without apology).

Personally, I don't think I could handle it if I got any more pleasure than I do already... I don't miss mine at all and the thought of having it is a total turn off to me. Yuck.

Anyway, back on the topic... I just don't see the motivation behind this demonization of Kratom. Maybe someone high up in CBS has a daughter or son that got themselves a Kratom habit...

Kratom is a safe alternative to harder opioids and opiates, at least in plain leaf, it's a mild buzz with some stimulating effects and can be pleasant. Lol at it being like cocaine, why not compare nicotine and meth... Lol.

I feel these types of articles are becoming fewer and fewer in number. I remember when I started reading this forum in 2008, half of the articles were naive prohibitionist propaganda like this, but now I hardly see them. Anybody else notice this?

I still these articles as a sign that a person who likes the substance being demonized might want to stock up on them while they can. Scary articles usually precede banning by a short time.

I could eat a grilled cheese sandwich and then drive down the road and kill someone, as well. So I guess I have a valid argument for illegalizing grilled cheese sandwiches, right?
When people eat a lot of food they sometimes get tired, which can make them drive bad. We should institute an hourly calorie limit.

Oh shit, I come in here and this alleged drug that supposedly as addictive as fucking heroin and produces a high like cocaine is freaking kratom?

Oh no. Oh no, don't let this happen with freaking kratom now. Some motherfucking media piece of shit was having a slow fucking day and decided that since salvia is gone now, they'd better try to find something new to whip up a fucking frenzy about. Except Salvia could actually pose an issue if used irresponsibly. That's probably why they need to straight make things up about kratom to make it sound scary, since telling people there's some legal drug out there that produces a weak little opiate-esque high akin to taking some codeine wouldn't sound nearly scary enough to all the airheaded busy body middle aged mothers who get worked up about this kind of dumb shit.

I mean, obviously I don't need to tell anyone here that anyone who claims that kratom is as addictive as heroin or could be in any way compared to cocaine needs to be slapped. I also don't think I need to tell anyone that it's a useful thing to have available, as it serves far better medically for things like mild pain or withdrawal than it does as a recreational substance. Whoever these people are who are going out of their way to spread this sort of misinformation and make the world a worse place simply because they're terrible journalists and can't come up with any stories needs to possibly be banned from every having access to any writing implement for the rest of their life.

"you could get high on kratom, get in an automobile, drive down the road and crash and kill someone." What the fuck is that even supposed to mean? Newsflash bro, I could high five someone, get in an automobile, drive down the road and crash and kill someone. I could do the chicken dance, get in an automobile, drive down the road and crash and kill someone. Usually that's how reality works, something happens, then something else happens afterwards. Crazy, I know.

My god, it has been a long, long time since I've read a piece of reporting more maliciously hyperbolic and sensationalist than this. This is...unbelievable. It's infuriating that anyone would create something like this. I'm speechless, I don't even know how to put into words how this makes me feel upon reading lines like "some think it's the most dangerous drug currently for sale in the United States". It's totally unbelievable. I'm not going to be able to stop thinking about this, it's just so wrong. There's no way the person writing this didn't know what they were doing, there's a reason they use weasel words like "'some' think it's the most dangerous drug...". Who? Who the fuck thinks that asshole, huh? And how is that the case when down at the bottom it says there have been no reported fatalities from kratom? Cause I'd say that pretty strongly refutes that claim. On that note, it's almost like there's a reason the bullshit about it being one of the most dangerous drugs for sale in the U.S. is way up at the top and the part about no fatalities tied to kratom is way down at the bottom...

For real, just...What. The. Fuck.

It's just piss-poor journalism all-around. If a journalist can't come up with something more constructive than “'You could get into an automobile high on kratom, drive down the road and crash and kill someone,' said Vinny deMacedo", it was probably written by an unpaid intern or a college grad $30K in the hole making $25K per year.

Yes. At the right dose with the right material its actually quite pleasant from what I hear. I either overshot or undershot it my first time and got extremely sick. Projectile vomiting and all. When I wasn't in the bathroom thought or in the middle of the panic attack it induced, it had a rather pleasant euphoria :P

I've been using kratom recreationally for about 7 years. Its sharp, bitter flavor is probably the greatest deterrent from picking it up as a habit. The projectile vomiting you describe has been a part of my experience as well. I believe the vomiting has more to do with stomach conditions than kratom strain, dose, etc. Greasy food and beer of any substance seem to always trigger bouts of vomiting. I also find I vomit less frequently if I take a motion sickness pill (dimenhydrinate) beforehand, but whether it has a true effect is debatable.

For real, just...What. The. Fuck.

I think Florida was also the birthplace of the jenkem scare. Too bad jenkem never took off as a teenage party drug.

$1000 a month on Kratom? That shit is dirt cheap if you buy in bulk, so either she had a huge habit or is an idiot.

I support the latter explanation, and would like to add that kratom addiction is probably the least of the girl's problems. No telling what we'd find if we dug a little deeper, but that's supposed to be the journalist's job.

Yeah 1000$ a month sounds like she is buying from head shops. God damn idiots going to get this awesome plant banned. Big Pharma doesn't like anyone cutting into their profits. If they can't make it into a pill and sell it nobody gets to have it.
