New Dilaudid formulation?

Hi Blue,

Long time no post, I hope everyone is doing well. I have a question for you guys which I know that you guys will think is very out of character for me, but I assure you first and foremost that I am still sober after 5 years (or somewhere there about give or take, I don't count but my family does for some reason)! I finally managed to put a lot of time under my belt. Now trust me that doesn't excuse the fact that I do what I sometimes do now, but it is what it is and life is what you make it.

So here is the deal, I have had a real hard time getting any relief from the pain meds that I am on and my Pain MGT Dr and I have tried more meds, different meds, and epidurals every couple months but with all that I just don't find much relief and I believe it is because my Opiate tolerance is very high because a back in 09/10, I spent many long weeks and a couple months admitted into the hospital with constant high doses of IV dilaudid. Since then, there are times when I just can not seem to get any relief and I sit crying my little eyes out while laying in the fetal position on my bed. So I tried something I swore I would never do which is I cooked my 60MG Morphine and I slammed it. I will say this, it worked great! I followed all the instructions I have ever read here, including getting a micron filter.. While I am not proud of this, I will say that when I do it, I actually only need 1 60MG Morphine and it lasts me a full 24 / 36 hours before I even feel the need for anything else, where when I take my pills normally I usually have to take 2-4 ever 24hours.

Well all this leads me to my question. I have noticed that there appears to be a new formulation of Dilaudid or more correctly, Hydromorphone, and I believe that this new formation was made to be abuse proof. I say this because there pharmacy I goto used to dispense Hydromorphone (2mg) in a little white tablet that you could tell was very water soluble because when you placed it under your tongue it would literally melt in about a minute. Then there were a few weeks where NO ONE had dilaudid. I mean I couldn't find it anywhere, and everyone said that it was back ordered. My pharmacy then all of a sudden started dispensing a new one where is was this peachy / pinkish / orangey type color and it does not dissolve at all under my tongue. I have tried crushing it and placing it under my tongue and I am just left with a gritty powder under my tongue that tastes like crap! Still works if you just swallow it like one is supposed to, however, this leads me to the main point of this thread.

Does anyone know if there is anyway to prepare this new dilaudid to shoot it? I am not one that will just crush / cook then shoot something into my veins just to test and see if it will work. In fact, had I not felt very comfortable with what I learned here about the morphine, I never would have even considered shooting that. So if anyone knows I would been interested to learn because I have always found that Dilaudid does work the best for me so I would love to be able to shoot like 4-8mg of Dilaudid vs the 60mg of Morphine, IF it is at all possible. If not, cool, no worries, and if anyone can help, awesome, and if anyone chooses not to reply, that is cool too. I have a lot of respect for everyone here on Blue as well, when I have some more time, especially if I start feeling better, I would love to spend some more time here, helping others as I used to do.

Wow I had really expected someone here to have known what the deal is with the hydromorphone. You guys have always known what going on with things like this. I hope that my post has not offended anyone. Maybe if I cut out all the filler in my OP and just post the question again here, maybe someone will be able to answer the question....

Basically I was wondering if the pink / orange / peach color hydromorphone is a new formulation that was release to prevent any kind of abuse like slamming or railing. If anyone knows any way to prep these, could someone please post and let me know or if you don't think I have a chance on getting my answer.

Perhaps its generic Exalgo? What strength is it?

This is true but wasnt 100% sure he specified a strength. I know he mentioned 2mg but maybe it was just as a reference. AFAIK hydromorphone hasnt been made tamper proof in immediate release formulations.

It's definitely not exaglo as that is the time release Diladid, I was on that for a bit but had to switch because I could never sleep on exalgo. Dilaudid in longer higher dose preps tends to make me hyper. I will try the cold water extraction. These are 2mg tabs. Like I mentioned, they used to be white and now they are the little peachy colored ones. So I know they definitely reformulated them. I had heard somewhere that the new formulation now had fillers in it that are supposed to bind with the active ingredient (hydromorphone) so that you could not inject them, but I don't know for sure. In fact, I am not even sure how to test to make sure I am getting the hydromorphone other then just doing the extraction, filtering and hoping that there is something worth putting into my system. I don't like the idea of testing on myself...

I have yet to try that and I was afraid to cook it since that would just dissolve more of the fillers and binders. While I do shoot the pills every now and then, I do keep in mind the "harm reduction" which is the only reason I asked here. I trust you guys much more than anywhere else. Plus while I do shoot the pills, I always keep harm reduction in mind, hence the micro filter. I do appreciate the mention of that though because regardless of what I do, I would never suggest anyone do as I do, I like to say "always do as I say, not as I do"

I honestly do not recommend anyone shoot pills and I am very careful, probably OCD careful ,though I guess one can never be too careful when it comes to this, but I do sterilize everything before it is used... spoon is bleached and wiped with alcohol before use, I only use pre-sterilized water that is prepped for injection that I buy from a pharmacy in the vials. Only brand new needles etc. The only thing not sterile are the pills but with the morphine then are cleaned of all the external time release stuff, crushed then boiled in the water. Everything is alcohol prepped before and after.

It may sound like a lot, but I am not interested in getting an infection or any other problem, and I am not about to get any track marks. One trick I learned from my years in the medical profession, I always treat the injection site with Vitamin E oil once the area is cleaned up after. The vitamin E helps the skin heal much faster and keeps it looking youthful. Oh and always get a good nights sleep!... This last step may sound funny, but your body does the bulk of it's healing and repairing during REM sleep. In fact if you don't believe this, take a look at an injury (if you have any) and stay up for a couple nights with no sleep, you will notice that after those few nights of no sleep the injury site (bruise or small cut or even an injection site) will not look any better possibly even look worse, then get a good 8 hours sleep or as long as you can, just make sure you get into REM sleep. You will see that just after that one nights sleep, the injury site with look way better, in some cases almost completely healed. It's a proven fact that your body does not send out all it's repair and construction crews unless you are in REM sleep. That all being said, I highly believe in vitamin E and a full nights sleep if you want to make sure your all healed up nicely!

Hey Coffeeisgoog33! Thanks so much for your replies! You must have missed in my earlier posts, I do use a micro filter. I am very particular in doing things as safe as I possibly can for what it is. I don't like to mess too much. In fact, I don't like the idea that I do this in the first place, however, I do so because I have such a high tolerance for meds that I just don't get the pain relief from taking the morphine PO. In fact PO lasts about 6 hours in my system where that same pill slammed will last me upwards of a full 24 + hours! I don't really understand that as I would have thought that injecting them would have them metabolized much faster but I guess not. I am not sure.

I am going to have to look into the Dilaudid that I am getting. I will have to asked them who the manufacturer is. They don't look like the ones in the pic from that post you pasted so I need to make sure. My understanding when I originally asked about these a long time ago, was that they reformulated these so that they can't be injected by having the fillers bind to the active ingredient causing you to get these little orange balls when you mix them with water. I will need to do some more research, maybe I can paste a pic of them so we can look at the imprint.
