Opioids New crush proof Opana soon...

I just had to throw in that so far I support what verso has been posting.
The views that he is expressing seem far more logical to me than a lot of the other postings in this thread.
Making something harder to abuse isn't really a benefit imho.
Those who wish to abuse the substance still will, they will just experience more damage in the process.
The amount of people who are going to be deterred by a change in formulation is miniscule.
I highly doubt that many people will be stopped from starting a habit by such a change as well.
I'd want statistically relevant numbers showing that this would cause more good than harm.
I just don't see how this would be positive.

I think a lot of it is the matter of personal responsibility.
Just because a substance is easy to abuse doesn't force you to do it.
Pills don't crush & snort or inject themselves.
The needle doesn't make it's way into one's bloodstream by itself.
Sure some people are more prone to addiction than others but that's a moot point.

Basically a substance is just that a substance.
They are not inherently good or evil in any way.
There formulations are irrelevant.
It's basically personal choice from the get go & how it develops from there would depend on the substance.
Though some substance are more addictive than others, Oxymorphone being quite addictive.
This does not make it any more good or evil than any other substance.
Sure a user will become hooked quicker & harder than with other substances.
However, the user would still have to choose to use the substance in the first place.

Justifying one's usage by saying one was ignorant to the effects & properties of a substance,
doesn't hold that much weight in my book.
If you choose to use a substance you should take the time to learn enough about what you are using
to make an informed decision about your usage.
If you don't choose to do so, then the repercussions are what they are.

That's why in my opinion we should be spreading knowledge as the main form of HR.
Having people educated to the true effects & nuances of substances would help exponentially.
I'd have to look around to see if there are solid numbers indicating this as I'm not sure how much it's been researched.
Regardless it just seems logical to me that such a conclusion would be valid.
Everyone is entitled to there own opinions & I would not discount them without first educating myself on the matter.

However, in this particular case I believe that going with more abuse proof formulations is catering to fear & weakness.
Causing more harm amongst the substance using population while doing very little to prevent abuse.
This particular method of deterrent though effective with certain parts of the population just causes to much harm to justify it's usage.
While it may stop some people from experimenting with or using said substance, educated users will still find a way around it.
As such you would be harming people intelligent enough to find a way around pharmaceutical deterrents.
While at the same time you'd be catering to deterring people who aren't dedicated or intelligent enough to defeat said measures.
This to me seems counter productive as though I believe in helping others to the fullest extent seems to be faulty logic.

We should not dictate the rules of society based on protecting the stupid from themselves.
Though it seems harsh; limiting the freedoms of man to protect other members of mankind from themselves
that aren't intelligent enough to do so themselves in this case isn't warranted.
Sure with mental illness, disability, etc. enacting policies to protect these members of society is warranted.

However, enacting laws to protect people from substances that they choose to use without educating themselves first is not.
This subset of this section of society's needs do not justify the harms created to the greater part of society as a whole.
As such we cannot support methods such as these to control substance usage.

TL;DR as follows.

I agree with verso on most points he's made & I think that abuse proofing measures are an ill reasoned attempt at deterrence.
I also believe that people's behaviors & choices, such as educating oneself before using a substance
& spreading such knowledge to me is a more logical approach to the problem.

Education & truth regarding substances is the key.

I agree on that as well because I was immature when I first started experimenting and had tried a lot of other drug's without feeling addiction and didn't really know that when I started snorting the old oxy what I was really gettin myself into and yeah that's my fault for not doin the research one hundred percent but I def think spreading the truth is the way to go. Only problem is that i also feel had they changed the formulation before I started I would have never started just my opinion

This is very disappointing to hear, you need so much more oxymorphone orally to achieve the same high as the insufflation ROA and it still won't have the rush which means that I'd have to buy more of the same pill to achieve the desired high I got off railing one IR which like the OP's in comparison to the OC's doesn't really save me any money. I don't have any desire to replace my recreational opiate habits with herion I've been down that route and for me it clouds my judgement and personality a lot, feels way dirtier, and takes a worse physical/mental withdrawal than the pharm opiates ever had on me.

This really sucks, but all things considered, people shouldn't be banging the ER pills anyway. This new formulation doesn't change the IR version, does it? Cause in that cause, does it really make that big of a difference? For those of us scoring on the streets, I think we'll just start to see more IR Opana's. It's kind of like when the OP's came around, everybody started hustling Roxys and Oxy IR. Round here, at least.

Walgreens is already carrying a generic version of Opana ER (40mg). Not sure who the manufacturer is. Anyone have any experience with these? Are they tamperproof/crushproof like the new formula thats supposed to be coming soon?

I'm just gonna point something out to everyone who is scared you're not gonna be able to shoot up, rail this, whatever...

So you've still got Oxymorphone right? It's just got a few things that are making it release slowly and it's got binders that will clump up in your nose.. whatever. Why can't a chemist figure out how to EXTRACT the drug from these binders/time releases? If a chemist can do it then one day anyone at home may be able to do it. You still have this drug, just with a few things added. BUT THE DRUG IS STILL THERE.....

So find a way to extract it. If a chemist can do it and everyone else can't well... this chemist just needs a large supply of the pills before you've got pure Oxymorphone powder going around the streets.

they will stop making Irs just like they did the Ocs.. they have 2 generic type of OC left.. the ABgs and these peach ones... but they are few and inbetween

I hate this shit and anyone arguing that these pills are safer is niave. What happens is that most drug users dont know shit about harm reduction they will shoot these pills not even knowing the consequences and damage they are doing. No one will be saved from addiction the cycle will continue although more dangerously. and to the guy who said he didnt know OC was addicting I got some beachfront property in New Mexico for you.

Really? In your heart of hearts, you sincerely and honestly believe that this change in formula will save many people from addiction and death? I'm sorry, and I'm not trying to be condescending or rude, but if the situation isn't at all obvious to you, then I have nothing more to say, really.

Because the truth is that those who are prone to experiment with different substances and those who are prone to become addicts will, and will despite a change in formula or whatever other obstacle stands in their way. You've never heard of a friend or relative telling you that, "Thank God for these abuse-proof oxycontin and opana, or else I'd be a total addict by now," because it doesn't happen that way.

It stays the same; the beat goes on, and I happen to believe that this change in formula will have no positive impact at all, and, in my opinion, as a recreational drug user as many of us here on this forum are, will only have negative consequences.

EDIT: And yes, I am offended. Because perhaps unknowingly but albeit without exception, the poster called those who are, in your own words, "people that use opana with safety and caution" ... "junkies." And no, I am not a junkie.

Consider this: You would agree that there are those few out there who are absolute burn-outs, right? They smoke weed and care not for their rent, bills, car payments, nor do they care even the tiniest bit at all for any other of the other adult responsibilities and commitments in their lives.

Now, if marijuana were suddenly made to be less effective and virtually abuse-proof, meaning that to get "high" on marijuana would be, well, nearly impossible, would you then celebrate as you are opana's change in formula? Allow me to assume (and yes, I know that to assume will make an ass of u and me) that you wouldn't celebrate the change. And that's where I am at with this change in formula. Do you understand now where I'm coming from?

You are SO right! and I <3 you for sticking up for what is right, and fighting the inhumane pharm companies! :D

Heroin was initially marketted as the non-addictive form of morphine.

Bring back the '20's when you could buy it over the counter (well in the UK you could, dont know about the rest of the world!). My great grandmother used to tell me 'Richard, we used to have such fun in the 20's!'
and my nan taught me about benzo's and booze being a good combination! (as well as funny stories about magic mushrooms that her and my grandad took)

A shot of morphine costs pennies to make but, because all the risks involved in smuggling and dealing, the price is artificially inflated and the quality is usually shit. The effect of this is to create a homeless and a criminal underclass with which to scare the mainstream population. FEAR is the main way that the powers that be control a population and by creating a criminal underclass (dope fiends etc) they can play on this and introduce more and more right wing laws.

I hate the government trying to protect us from our own idiocy. If people would just educate themselves and understand the risks that come with the use of such a drug. There are just too many laws and bans...1984 is coming.

I mean there are safety labels for the stupidest of things now...it blows my mind that people would either sue over something so ridiculous or that someone would be that stupid to misuse a product.

I digress. I hope that this makes pain relief easier to obtain for people with chronic pain and that doctors aren't as restricted about such things. There are far too many people out there under-medicated for their pain.

Nobody protects us. They want to destroy us. The plan is to reduce the world population to about 500million, maybe 1 billion people. We are poisoned in every possible way, and they do everything to make our lives less satisfying. Drugs don't make you a junkie. It's like with the hen and the egg. I say that the desease, the "addiction", comes first. Drugs act as a medication for this desease. Opioids are the best, because they can be used for a long period of time, even for the rest of one's life, and they aren't toxic.

Prohibition of all those great substances is so evil... those mofo's are so intelligent. They know how to control us.

If anyone of you thinks that the government is there to protect us, I really feel for you. The government is evil. Evil evil evil. NOTHING ELSE. And don't think it's just the US. It's a global phenomenon.
Here in Europe, where I live, we still have OC's, the original ones. But they are expensive as hell and very very few people get them. Most people don't even know of oxycodone. The most popular opioid here in Austria is morphine, second is heroin (0-15% purity). I hope that they don't reformulate the OC's over here, because there is no need for it. There is very few people who are prescribed Oxycontin, and the pharma-company promotes it as the most high-tech painkiller, because it releases 20-30% of the oxycodone immediately, whereas the other 70-80% of the oxycodone are released over a period of 12 hours. If they reformulated it, they couldn't use this argument.

Original OC's are the best thing I've ever come across. Nothing is better. You know what you get, and if you use micron-filters, shooting them is as easy as shooting heroin-hcl, just wash the coating off, crush, dissolve in water, filter, bang. A good big shot of oxy is so great... great rush. Many people say that oxycodone has no rush, but that's not true. You have to take a relatively high dose (for example if your daily dose is 240mg oxyocodone IV, bang 80mg at once) and release the tourniquet AFTER you've pushed all the 2-3 millilitres into your vein. 2-3ml don't hurt your veins, and this method provides a great rush. But you must have enough experience and know your doses, because if you don't, you must not use this method. It could be very dangerous.

First oxycodone, now oxymorphone... they want to make everything shitty for us. Fuck them.

not my opanas, noooooo!

Opana is oxymorphone, a full-agonist. If you read that it was likely about making less addictive oxymorphone pills by using a small amount of naltrexone.

...They're gonna put one of the ingredients in suboxone in the new tamper-proof opanas!? This is ridiculous. sobs are just as addictive, if not more than opanas. You don't get as high taking then because they're intended as a replacement to all other opiates, but you still get just as sick when you stop if you're not very careful weaning yourself off. these pharmy companies just want their hands to feel clean whilst making billions off of the very drug addicts they're trying to 'prevent' from using their drugs. they know dope fiends will be dope fiends, this new formulation of the opana just gives them credit for trying to stop abuse of their drugs in the eyes of the media and masses. their intentions are not pure, it's all PR

Ive been IVing the Opana ERs for quite some time now. Im hoping that you will still be able to do this with the alcohol extraction method that i use. Ive also seen people just mix the ER pills with 70% alcohol and a tiny bit of water and shoot it like that. Im not one for shooting alcohol so i havent tried it, I always filter it and burn it off and use 91% alcohol. It leaves a little gel like solution that u just mix with water and the gel moves to the side and the water you draw back up is pure opana shot pretty much.

Closing since this new formulation is actually out now. Thread is hereby obsolete!
