new craze ... DUSTING?

generally here the aerosol is applied to a rag and then they inhale placing the rag on their lips, sometimes insde their mouths, the one I knew who's in jail now used to spray from the can directly though....but well, he wasn't the brightest one of the bunch.
I also thoutght dusting meant doing PCP, but slang is confusing...

my first drug was scotchgaurd when I was 12, actually a pretty good high until they changed the formula when I was 15, anyway I only did it twice and thats the extent of my inhalent use except for amyl nitrate

I believe the psychoactive chemical in duster is tetrafluoroethane, also known as freon.

i thought those computer dusters were mainly compressed CO2? CO2 is mildly psychoactive at certain concentrations (and death at higher)...lemme find a link...

Table 2. Generally accepted physiological effects of CO2 at various concentrations by volume.

Concentration Comments
0.03% Nothing happens as this is the normal carbon dioxide concentration in air.
0.5% Lung ventilation increases by 5 percent. This is the maximum safe working level recommended for an 8 hour working day in industry (Australian Standard).
1.0% Symptoms may begin to occur, such as feeling hot and clammy, lack of attention to details, fatigue, anxiety, clumsiness and loss of energy, which is commonly first noticed as a weakness in the knees (jelly legs).
2.0% Lung ventilation increases by 50 percent, headache after several hours exposure.
Accumulation of carbon dioxide in the body after prolonged breathing of air containing around 2% or greater will disturb body function by causing the tissue fluids to become too acidic. This will result in loss of energy and feeling run-down even after leaving the cave. It may take the person up to several days in a good environment for the body metabolism to return to normal.

3.0% Lung ventilation increases by 100 percent, panting after exertion, Symptoms may include:- headaches, dizziness and possible vision disturbance such as speckled stars.
5 - 10% Violent panting and fatigue to the point of exhaustion merely from respiration & severe headache. Prolonged exposure at 5% could result in irreversible effects to health. Prolonged exposure at > 6% could result in unconsciousness and death.
10 - 15% Intolerable panting, severe headaches and rapid exhaustion. Exposure for a few minutes will result in unconsciousness and suffocation without warning.
25% to 30% Extremely high concentrations will cause coma and convulsions within one minute of exposure. Certain Death.

The active ingredient in most computer dusters sold today is actually difluoroethane.

yes, my bad you're right. i just checked some random MSDS
i wonder why they changed it though? the dusters i used in the past (~4 years ago) for cleaning keyboards were CO2 based.

"I couldn't move for three to four minutes. I was staring at the door thinking I wanted to get up and touch it, but I couldn't do anything. It was one of the scariest feelings in the world," Goudberg said.

what a pussy!

Getting dusted is fun maybe once a month or something, but not to do it at all more than once a week.

I'm with 3cho here, this stuff is good maybe at a party every weekend with your friends, or if you're just chillin or something, but I wouldn't do it while I'm driving or anything:\

ok. as one point of interest. Ive killed hundreds of mice by first soaking a rag in diflouroethane, knocking them out, and then cutting their renal atery to make them die from blood loss. it is a very quick way to asphyxiate them. I did like a 5 min search and couldn't find the specific mechanism of action as to why. basically there is no reason the FDA would approve such a thing. Theroretically it causes an alteration in the binding of oxygen into red blood cells, or perhaps oxygen release from hemoglobin. it definitely has no effect on neurotransmitters/post synaptic receptors.

inhalants = asphyxiation

DUDE duster is soo fucking badd for you but its so amazing ive said so many times i will never do it beacuse of the amount of damage it does to your braincells and your body tissue and what not but i have done it... but its so amazing all you hear is WA WA POOIINGG POOINGG wha wha wa over n over n everything is like in a flange it makes your voice deep as shitt.. its fucking fun and sometims your black out n its really cool beacuse you have a dream n then you wake up n it feels so real but it never happen... that just goes to show you wat damge it has done.. dont do it if you havent... everyone n anyone who has done it tells people not to do it beacuse once you have that can inyour hand .... its stuck and its not comming off its the most addicting drug and i can see why.. you wanna stay retarded cuz nothing matters when you feel that good but itsss baddddddddddddddddddddddd so good so badd

Syntheticboy, please, look at some of the dates. How in the hell did you dig up a 3yr old thread?

People have been using inhalants for ages. There was a kid in my highschool that did that shit all of the time, this was back in 97.

Case in point.

^lol

I'm gonna close this. I'm sure there's a more recent thread with the same topic, if you guys want to continue talking about duster.
