booo, i thought this was going to be an article revealing the staggering rise in pcp usage among suburbanites or something. that would make for some interesting news in the months to come..
 
this is worst than REAL drugs. in the ghetto areas around here, they buy airplane model glue put it in bags , wrap the bag around their face and just breathe till they get fucked... its sad...
 
yes NMDA receptors as well as GABA. I thought you knew very little on the subject and you wanted to tell an uneducated friend, it works a lot like benzos or alcohol does. i dind't want to get all complicated. but since you know a lot more than I thought, heres a good link about what nitrous does did i say neurotransmitters, i meant postsynaptic receptors of GABA and NDMA. this article suggests that there isn't actually a neurotransmitter release

and dont get nitrous (N20) confused with nitric oxide (NO). NO is a vasoconstrictor and its mechanism of action is somewhat complicated and has effects on oxygen binding. so I guess NO could do the same thing as duster in a way which i why i brought that up. anyways, back on topic
 
I was under the assumption that asphyxiation could not produce the effects that most people get with solvents. There's obviously something else going on there in the brain. That said, it's definitely retarded, never have done it myself; if you're going to do that sort of thing, you might as well just track down some N2O. I've heard of people acquiring permanent seizure disorders and serious (i.e. not unnoticeable brain damage) from only a few experiences. Sick stuff. But, really, people have been doing these things for a long time, the propellant in duster has been used in other products for decades.
 
Thanks for the link bowdenta. I am fairly educated regarding most drug related topics, but was pretty clueless as to how nitrous actually worked. I had no idea that it affected GABA/NMDA receptors in any way, due to the fact that it seems strange that such a short acting drug would cause any significant change in postsynaptic receptors.

I didn't mean to sound condescending in my second post, I was just looking for clarification. You obviously know your shit about N20.;)
 
I think at least a few of the Dustoff related deaths have not been because of brain damage or what not, but because people inhale the freezing cold liquid by accident. If you hold the dustoff upside down or sideways and spray it a liquid comes out that pretty much freezes whatever it comes into contact with. I read an article where someone died because their internals froze after accidentally spraying it upside down.

Thats not to say that Dustoff is safer than its made out to be though, lol. Its probably the most dangerous drug to do and totally not worth it for the 1-3 minute high.
 
Many of you are getting Duster wrong. It does not get you high by cutting off your oxygen. Otherwise, if you went to the pool, everyone would be fucking wasted. Especially in the deepend.

There is some chemical in Duster that makes it psychoactive. I believe it is similiar to spirits, though I do not know if all inhalants are spirits. It is similiar in action as what gets you high from shoe polish, thinner, acetone, gasoline, kerosene, and glade packets. However, each of those inhalants cause similiar, but noticeably different, highs.

The Duster high can "transport" you to another world like no other drug. You'll think your somewhere else, with different people, and think crazy shit, even entity presence. I have had a little experience with it a long time ago. However I didn't like the lingering feel and it is somewhat dangerous. It is easy to go over the edge and black out momentarily, knocking everything over and possibly bonking your head. I wouldn't say it is that dangerous besides the possible blackout. I don't think substantial brain damage occurs but I'm sure a little can happen, not sure.

Be careful of that freezing liquid. I can't believe someone has died from freezing their organs, they must've held it for a long time which seems impossible. I've seen idiots intentionally take it upside down for bravado, though they stop in seconds.
 
I believe the psychoactive chemical in duster is tetrafluoroethane, also known as freon.
 
I know a chic that did that once. Collapsed and broke her elbow. HAH, she was a hottie too.
 
I knew two girls who did it and thought they could drive. She drove too fast, clipped a car parked on the side of the street, and hit a tree. Both almost died. Both have massive scars from many operations to save their lives. Both are the dumbest fuckheads I ever knew.

It really fucks with your mind. You start to assume strange shit and talk to weird people and get in odd situations, all in your head. A delirient in effect?

It doesn't produce euphoria but makes you feel really weird. An experience. Just don't overdo it or you'll get a slight headache.
 
me and a friend breathed in a little bit. we didnt think it was psychoactive or damaging at all we were just fucking around, we werent meaning to get high. all that happened was a bit of dizziness and a headache

Shit man Dusters, Axe,Glade...any aresol. Back in military school we did that shit al the time along with drinking listo. Fail a drug test, ur fucked there. So we just did everything we could. I got a bunch of people on robotussin right before i left. I wonder how the place will be in the fall :).

I huffed like every day every chance for about a month. The slight mental incapacitation that i suffered lasted for about 2 days after i quit. Math was a little hard, but i wouldnt consider myself retarded. Then again, thats coming from a kid that inhaled a deoderant to get high.

Sure it fucks you up hard aas a motherfucker. Sit down and huff a can of axe and you will have a good time. At the time time, if you drink a few shots of my piss im sure youd have a good buzz going.
All in all, unless you go to military school, dont huff. It causes too much damage and im lucky to get away with all i did. Smoke some weed, down a little dxm, snort some blow, anything but huff. Id stick a needle in me way before id do that shit again.
 
wow a dumb drug i havent abused, things are looking up. Ive witness a ton of people hit the duster can and reply YOU DONT DO, FUCK YOU in a deep scary tone, just before they hit the floor with drool comming out of there mouths.
 
I'd inhale the dust off brand a couple times a month no more than two or three sessions a day where I'd do two or three moderate hits and I did it for about a year in high school when I was about 16 or 17. Definitely can make you retarded for a while and fuck up your lung capacity. I never drank the liquid, froze anything, blacked out or fell over. It did have me babbling incoherrently with my neck hanging my head backwards unmoving while walking around and laughing. I hit that stuff with a friend or two while drunk, high and either rolling or shrooming, I can't remember which. Hitting it while on drugs had me and my friend laughing like a machine uncontrollably so it is definitely euphoric. I've got to say I've felt like I was dying on psychedelics but I never really felt scared or like I was dying while huffing this poison. The worst part about this drug is that it is like prepackaged happy huffs that are bringing you closer to death than the worst drug you ever took probably ever will. I never really noticed it but this stuff does make you a little delirious for a few minutes. The effect is so immediate though, so I guess that is why.
 
Freon-13 (iirc or 11) was very popular here, it came in an aerosol too, I used it for a couple days straight and after a terryfing session where I lost my senses and read up about freo stopped, some friends (whom I don't see no more since) continued to use it, and what greenbarts describes happened a lot, they did oxi (not oxycontin, that was me, the one who's still here) (for those of you who read the DITM article ox, paco, coco, cheap leftovers of the making of freebase) and algispray (that was the name of the duster), eventually one passed out in his bathtub (he used to be an old bluelighter) being on a massive dose of 1,4bdo for coming down of a 4 day binge of freon and paco, of course the ambulance and police came when he was found, he was also dealing, he;s doing time now...he had the $ and the knoweledge but decided to do the cheap shit instead, so sometimes it comes down to personal issues.
Anyway during the beggining of this year some stupid kids died huffing the shit ionside a van and now you need a script to buy it (since it was used as a muscle relaxant spray shit) , but iut's sold anyway without prescription, and glue-huiffing has been a constant problem here in the last 2 decades with the lower classes, some kids starting at 5, now many of them starting paoc at 7. It's really sad, but it's sadder when it's a well informed wealthy kid who had everything going on for him.
Back on topic, I remember I had the "wah-wahs" and turned up the music real loud, I liked monstruous sounds, also saw colors, change in movements, laughter, a soprt of telephaty, lost of control of my body, it was more remioiscient to salvia divinorium than to n20 for me, but I regret doing it more than smoking paco/oxi a couple times, freon is sorta a russian roulette, if not directly indirectly.

i used to do this stupid shit all the time. i would get high on coke and chronic then hit the duster, (called this a 'dustbuster') this was VERY VERY STUPID AND DANGEROUS of me to do! but it was the best high i ever coped, i felt like it was fucking me up though so i put the shit down and never looked back. stay far away from this shit, there are better things out there that have a way better highs and don't fuck you up permanently.
