"Then there is Pennsylvania State Senator Kim Ward. She is single-handedly trying to dismantle methadone treatment in the state of Pennsylvania. She has authored or co-authored a number of bills that seek to impose new burdens on methadone clinics, cut Medicaid patients off of treatment, and change the state DUI laws to punish methadone patients. This post is the first of several that will look at Sen. Ward's efforts. My goal is to expose her ignorant attempts to force recovering addicts in to abstinence, dooming most of them to relapse, jail or death."

theres the link, but i suggest if you''re interested in more info about methadone, to look at the rest of the website;;. i now i will

What a dumb woman she seems to be. What good does she think will come out of her actions?
Would she feel the same if a family member required methadone treatment?
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Wow she must have some kind of personal vendetta against methadone, scary to think people like this woman are in public office and responsible for making deciscions for others.the dui thing is crazy as shit because mmt patients are not intoxicated by their methadone. Once u take it for a while it doesnt affect you like that.

all that she will get out of that is a lot more robberies, cause nobody is tryin to be sick out there, so if you live in Pennsylvania, and are dependent on opiods, leave as fast as you can.

Pennsylvania is always making up their own stupid damn laws. Fucking commonwealth shit of a state.

could you plz explain me what do you mean? i never suffer from opioid addiction...

ibogaine is great, but you can't keep taking it. Most people eventually relapse. I'd guess that the therapy with the lowest relapse rate is methadone, specifically because you keep taking it every day and it has a looooong duration. In this sense, the only thing that comes close to it I think is buprenorphine. But methadone probably has a higher success rate than bupe.

of course, the best of all is diacetylmorphine maintenance, if you're lucky enough to have that available to you.

Why does this crazy woman want to stop people from trying to get clean?

I agree with dscoopz, the point of MMT is so heroin addicts don't use heroin...but if they have nothing to help with the cravings/withdrawls, then what are they going to go for? Heroin addicts (from my understanding) aren't going to be like "well fuck, I can't take methadone anymore so I guess thats that."

What a heartless woman.

Methadone is a useful drug and has the ability to save people's lives when it is properly used. Why would she want to stop people from trying to recover?! Absurd.

Because it scores political points with the prehistoric minded right wing trash who think she's stopping the government from spending 'their' money on giving drugs to addicts.

I live in the most back-ass state in the north east. Still can't buy liquor on sundays and constantly cracking down on non-violent offenders. Doesn't surprise me.

^^ ha we must live in the same state. I can't wait to move outta here. Sorry for the off topic.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's quite sickening how they'd rather prohibit a drug than help people who want to get clean to get clean.

Not being able to buy liqour on sundays isn't that odd of a thing. A lot of states don't allow that. Same with cracking down on non-violent offenders... That is happening in almost every state. (to Salandrion)

Fanatical individuals or organizations of individuals like the senator surprise me with their ignorance and arrogance. They use emotions to gather their followers and push their agendas. Not even bothering using any science or factual information to support their beliefs which they want to spread to everyone within the country. It is ridiculous. Programs like the methadone maintenance treatment programs this help reduce the costs on the tax payers by lowering addiction rates, lowering number of uninsured individuals needing medical care, limiting the spread and reducing the spread of infectious diseases, etc. However, for some reason they assume that having methadone patients in their cities is a threat to their kids, an irrational and unfounded claim. If anything it lowers the threat to children by potentially reducing addiction rates which can prevent petty theft or other crimes which innocent individuals can accidently fall victim to.

My hatred towards republicans/conservatives continues to grow. Wish I could send them all to North Korea.

Methadone (MMT) also saved my life. These bloody idiots somehow need to be removed from power.
