I have been on Methadone for 9 years now. I had a knee surgery that failed for knee dislocation. Born with the condition and knee went out and wouldn't go back. Long story short had no choice but to get on Methadone. Knowing what I know now I NEVER would have. I had a baby on it 5 yrs ago and then got up to 110 mgs. I have been coming off for 8 months now and am at 15 mgs to date. I have had severe vomiting and digestion issues. Lost 55 lbs in 6 months. All of these feelings are coming to me and normally I come down 5 mgs and I have 1 week of feeling bad and the next week went uphill. The last 3 nights I have woke up at 2 am withdrawing bad and am in my 3 week of coming down the last 5. I am terrified of my brain not resetting itself. Is there light at the end of this? Failure in not an option for me! Also I want to speak out about these clinics when I am off. Trying to write a book. Does anyone know the best way to go about that? Any and all input is greatly appreciated!!!

Welcome!!! :)

You are in the right place. And congrats on getting your dosage down. I,too, dosed down to get off methadone a couple of years ago so I KNOW how hard it is. So kudos!:D
As for the book...I wish I knew. I hope to write one someday as well. As for Bluelight, The Dark Side(TDS)will no doubt be of interest to you. Check it out.
If you run into any problems or have questions please feel free to PM me or ANY staff member. We are here to help. ;)

Much peace and love................skillz <3

Welcome to Bluelight!

I hope you enjoy the website.

As to your concerns: your brain should reset itself over time. I have a friend who tapered down to an extremely low dose of methadone after 10 years on heroin (IV).

I am very sorry to hear about your knee! I had a ton of severe acute pain after breaking both major bones in my arm, close to my wrist, about 15 months ago. I have a lot of respect for anyone who lives with daily pain.

I hope you enjoy your membership here at Bluelight! :)

PS I have some ideas as to alternatives to methadone as you are tapering off.

I have no experience in these substances, but I hope you're doing well!! I see this was posted a few weeks ago with no follow up... Yes the human body has a miraculous way to heal itself from just about anything, excepot losing a limb!! The first step is always to be positive within yourself. That might sound patronising, or like some "new age" aphorism, but it actually is the truth,. It's scientifically proven!! Be well
